We arrived at the Boardwalk at approximately 11:00, and were very lucky to be able to check in right away.
So after we settled into our room, we decided to go out for something to eat.
Unfortunately, at that point it started raining, so darted into Big River Grille.

DH ordered:
Beer Cheese Soup
Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich

Tilt Pale Ale

I ordered:
Beer Cheese Soup
Flame-Grilled Meatloaf
Rocket Red Ale

We both thought the Beer Cheese soup was just OK. It had shredded carrots in it, which was different from any other cheese soup that we had in the past. I personally didn't like the flavor the carrots added to the soup.

DH enjoyed his Pork Sandwich and I thought the Meatloaf was pretty good. They had pork mixed in with the meatloaf which gave it an interesting flavor.

We both gave our beers a thumbs up!
The service was efficient, and overall we enjoyed our lunch here.
It wasn't one of our favorites, but it did the trick for 2 very hungry travelers!

We rated this experience as a "B".

Ours, too. Bad food, even worse service. Try that meatloaf with a frozen center and burned outside.

My DS (15) and I had lunch at Big River back in June. It was our first and last visit. Although the food was not bad I thought the atmosphere inside was in need of some big time help. The place also needs a really good cleaning to spiffy it up and get rid of a slight moldy smell. The prices were way too high for a non-Disney restaurant. The biggest problem we had was a fly buzzing around us throughout our entire meal. Unlike most (if not all) Disney restaurants Big River only has single doors between the inside eating area and the outside. This allows flies to enter easily. The reason I bring this up is that when we had a take out order from the Spoodles window earlier during our stay I commented to the CM at the window about the strong air blowing from the inside. She said it was done on purpose to keep flying insects from entering the restaurant. What a great idea! I wish Big River would look into this.
With so many great restaurants in the Epcot resort area I would never even think of returning to Big River.

We ate there in September and will never go back. Although the food was adequate, the service was worse than I have ever experienced. Our food was brought out to us, when we looked back to ask for utensils, the server was gone. No one came to the table to bring them out. We had to go in search of someone. By then, the food was cold. The server was just plain rude the whole time. Never again...

We tried it out BRG&BW for dinner on the night of our arrival back during our late August BWV villa stay. A mistake for many reasons:

- I tried to make an AR in advance of our arrival, but Disney dining said the restaurant didn't take them (which is wrong, BRG&BW is an outside franchise that isn't owned or run by Disney but it turns out you can make a ressie -- if you happen to know you have to call or visit the restaurant directly to do that -- which unfortunately I didn't). So we were a walk up (the only one we did during entire stay, we had "made-as-far-in-advance-as-possible" ARs for every other table service meal we ate for the next eight days).

- Because we had no reservation, yep, all the dining room seating was taken and waits were ridiculous, so -- starved after a full day at Epcot -- we opted for the "bar dining" option, which was a bad decision, as our party of four was crammed into a tiny table by the mobbed bar, which made eating both uncomfortable and messy.

- Service was relatively slow and came with lots of what can best be described as "Florida Gen Y attitude."

- Food was satisfactory at best - Applebee's genre meat and potatoes.

- Given all the above, meal was grossly overpriced.

Bottom line: BRG&BW is now the newest member of our WDW dining blacklist (a small but growing club containing the likes of Tony's Town Square, home for fans of Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, La Cantina De San Angel (a.k.a. the economy version of Taco Bell) and the Liberty Inn at Epcot, perhaps the only place in the world sponsored by Coca Cola that serves...completely flat Coke). :crazy2:
