We have had a change of plan in the last couple of weeks and cancelled our cruise and now spending at extra 5 nights at WDW (moving from BLT to OKW) and was looking for dinner in the Epcot area on Tuesday evening so we can go to the OL wine evening however I can't get any ADRs for the restaurants we usually like so thought we'd try something new. So has anyone eaten at Big River Grill on the Boardwalk?

Menu looks Ok just wondered what the food was actually like?

Hi!

A group of us ate there last summer and all enjoyed it :)

I had the 'Hickory Bacon Burger' if I remember correctly - I find it hard to go wrong if you have a burger! But it was very good anyhow :) I think the burgers were all served with crisps rather than fries. I was a little worried that it wouldn't fill me up, but it definitely did in the end!

Made a nice change to fries (although I do :lovestruc the fries at WDW!)

We sat outside which was lovely! Had a few ducks to keep us company too

Hi Elise we ate there our last trip and plan to do so again this time. If I remember correctly we had one of the burgers, a chicken dish and very definitely a steak and they were all delicious (yum yum) The only downside I remember is that we couldn't get any chips i.e french fries so we had to have crisps. The service was excellent and just being able to walk up was a definite bonus. I would very certainly recommend eating there. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I nearly ate there last trip, but we left when I was told that my UK drivers license would not be acceptable to use as proof of age (although if they looked at my DOB they would have seen the trip was for my 30th birthday) and my brother's fiance was told that a photocopy of her passport was also useless.

Never in all my time in Florida has my drivers licence been refused as ID and several times on the last trip I bought booze without being asked for ID at Epcot and HS.

Needless to say that Big River Grill will not be getting my business this trip coming either, because with all the UK visitors they really should get their act together and put a picture of the full and provisional UK drivers licences in the book that has all the accecptable US forms of ID.

So if you want a drink there, be sure to carry your passport (the only ID they say they will accept from a Brit).

OMG I'd forgotten about the drivers licence thing .... we were all crying with laughter when they asked to see my DH ID I mean just take a look at him with all that grey hair

The whole ID thing was strange in Disney...
The majority of places will take a UK drivers licence, it seems just the odd place that won't. They should just all have the same rules shouldn't they?? :confused3

We had some drinks around DTD one night - basically just stopped in every place that served alcohol :lmao: everywhere accepted my UK drivers licence apart from Bongos Cuban Cafe :confused3

ETA: I just remembered about the AMC cinema in DTD :) they have this funny little sign saying something along the lines of they'll check ID for anybody who looks under the age of 99 haha!!

Nothing to add except I've never been asked for ID for alcohol even when drinking around the world at food and wine for my stag do. So now im thoroughly depressed at how old I look despite being just 30 :(

:goodvibes

OMG that's so dumb of them not to have accepted the UK driving license - I mean I get it when they don't accept photocopies but come one a Driving License!

I digress - I am not a fan of Big River Grille for food.... beer flight yes but not food. I've eaten here twice the second time was to try and prove myself wrong about the first time.

First time I ate inside and the table, chairs, floor all were sticky and just not to the usual standard I expect when I'm dining in WDW. I liked the cheddar and beer soup but should have ordered a cup if it was offered as a bowl was too sickly.

Caesar chicken salad was pretty blah and the dressing bland as anything... fries were OK

Went back and this time sat outside which was a nicer experience but the food again was pretty mediocre, I had a burger which I found to be dry and not much flavour, I've had better at Pecos Bills.

My friend had a pasta dish some sort of creamy thing and I have to say that tasted really good but again a little sickly if I'd had to eat the whole thing!

I prefer ESPN food but appreciate that may not be a good choice for your little princess. My other choices in the area are Kouzzina (actually this, the new Italian in Epcot and La Hacienda are the last to do on my bucket list - but I ate breakfast there) and Captains Grille oooo and of course the Cape May Cafe Clambake but that was probably one you couldn't get an ADR for?

Couldn't ADRs for Cape May, Tutto, Via Napolli, Teppan Edo etc - eating at Captains Grille the previous week.

Could get Flying Fish but not sure we really want a signature meal when there are slushies to be drunk...

Why don't you do Flying Fish and just have apps and dessert and skip the entree I know this one is far reaching but have you tried Fresh at The Dolphin? I ate lunch there back in 2010 and I have to say I was really impressed with the food. Il Mulino is also a possibility if you were going to go with Tutto - it's my favourite Italian on property at the moment.
