I have read many places that a big pen is easiest for characters to autograph. My question is - Can the pen be too big?? I found a darling mickey mouse pen at a local store, but it is over 12 inches long and about as thick around as a quarter. Would this be too large??

I think it would be about the right size! I am using retractable Sharpies...my friend said that they work great for autographs!!! I think she uses them each time that she visits WDW!

We used the retractable Sharpies last week and they were great. No lost caps, not accidental marks on characters. We got them at Walmart in a two pack, Staples had them but they were in a pack of 8 for $15.99! :scared1:

Do you have problems with the autographs soaking through to the next page?In the past, we have had characters sign on both sides of the page. I guess we could just have them do the right hand side page, so it would not ruin the back side.

Nope seepage problems. The books I used for the autographs were actually foam covered kids scrapbooks that were about 6"x6" so the pages were pretty thick. If you used them on the pages in the autograph books I saw sold at Disney shops then yes there might be a problem. These books were great though because they are sturdy white pages with no lines and the book could fold back on itself around a ring binding so the cover wasn't flopping around.

Some of the characters signed on the back of another page no problem but now I wish they hadn't so I could take the pages out to scrapbook with pictures of each character.

I have had that discussion on another thread and a couple of people said that they have, but I never have and I have used Sharpies before for autographs! Actually, last time I wasat Disney (2001)...I know, a long time ago, but when we were having a character breakfast...the CM's were handing the characters regular Sharpies to use to sign the books as they went around to the tables!:thumbsup2

We used pens about the size you are talking about on our last trip and actually got :thumbsup2 (literally) from the characters. Our pens were regular retractable ink pens just a very large size.

Hi. I just got back from Staples,(Ontario,Canada) and bought a huge pen. Hey I thought it was cute, and who could lose it and only 98 cents.
