Wow, what a nice welcome. I got my own welcome thread! I feel like a big shot. Thanks to you all.
A little about myself - I'm 42 and I've been a
Disneyland regular for over 20 years now. I live 250 miles away, so I don't get to attend as often as the local Annual Passholders do, but I usually get down to the resort for a few day every month or so. I stay in hotels in the area every time I visit.
I know how frustrating it is to book accommodations at a Hotel with "Maingate" in their name and finding out you can't even see Disneyland from your Motel. A few years ago, I started staying at Hotels within walking distance to the main entrance to the Disneyland resort. I created a Geocities page called
Lodging within Walking distance of The Disneyland Resort mainly to help me when booking rooms. That site evolved into my
Disneyland LinkMap page. I help a lot of my co-workers plan trips to the resort, give them tips & advice, get them good deals on rooms, etc.... I don't make any money for these sites, and the new one I'm still working on, but I use it all the time. It's real easy to use and links you directly to the individual hotels. I can find the besy price in minutes.I wish there were something made like this for the Orlando area.
My Disneyland trips are on hold while I'm paying for this vacation. My next visit to the Disneyland Resort will be on April 21-22, kicking off my WDW trip!
I've planned this trip a hundred times, but
this time I'm actually going! I've been to Orlando once in 1990, when I was stationed there (in the Navy) for a few weeks. I got to see Epcot, MGM, Typhoon Lagoon and Universal Studios. This will be my very first vacation there. I kept postponing this trip because I didn't want to go alone. I'm tired of waiting, I don't care if people think I'm a geek, I want to see Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Spider Man, Hulk, Alien Encounter, The Great Movie Ride, Test Track and some old favorites - Carousel of Progress, Swiss Family Treehouse and Country Bear Jamboree.
My schedule keeps changing. Universal Studios is doing the Mardi Gras thing up until the 26th, with a free concert the night of the 26th, so my schedule has changed. I'll be doing Universal Orlando April 23-26 and WDW April 26-May3.
Thanks again for the warm welcome. I hope to get to know you all.
See you in Orlando!
