Big change to plans for the year

Hello, DISers. Well, my DS17 has finally decided which college to attend; he will be starting at UC Irvine in the fall. I have to admit that I am not entirely displeased that he will be so close to DLR, as this clearly makes it a reasonable decision for DH and I to renew our APs. ;)

We are also changing our summer plans. We were planning on a seven night trip in July in order to see all of the changes to DCA. Now, however, we think it makes more sense to situate this long family trip so that DS's move to Irvine coincides; we will save travel expenses this way. We are changing our dates to September 12-19.

We have never been to DLR in September. I know that it is usually warm, and that there is a chance that some of the Halloween decorations will be up. Is there any specific advice anyone can give me? Is there a downside to changing from July to September? :scratchin

The biggest downside I can see will be that there may be less shows than in July, but planning will help that. And, there may be some weeknight shows for that time period also, honestly, I don't know.

The only other downside I can see is that something (nothing has been announced yet) could be down for major refurb since this is the time of the year when that is likely to happen. Halloween stuff should be up though. In fact, your dates may cross over the start of Halloweentime in Disneyland, so you may get a chance to experience what that season has to offer. Also, you are likely correct that it will be warm, so that is a positive or negative depending on what kind of weather you like. My brother often goes this time of year and enjoys it, but there was one year when it was too much for him (and most people from the sound of the things) when L.A. was hitting highs of 113! That is unusually high though, so you more likely would experience anything from 80-100 at that time of year I'm guessing.

BTW, congratulations to your son!
