BIG change to FP+ today

So, I spend one day hanging out on the DCL threads and then come back to find I can't even read every last entry.

I love walking around WS. But yeah, at this point, with the lack of rides and the focus on festivals to sell food and drink, it's hard to see how Epcot merits a full park admission anymore. At what point does it just become a pretty mall. It should be half of the price of MK at this point IMO.

Touché

All I know is I hope they keep the 60 days +10 for prebooking and then 45 days to pay up in full. If they mess with that and make you pay before you prebook rides, I'm out I tell you, I'm out! ;)

No but seriously, I'm out.

Me, too. I don't want to be, but I see no alternative. Except the $300/day shopping mall experience. :(
(OT: tried to PM you :( )

I would too. But the big supporters of FP+ seem to be the late sleepers. If you still have to be there at rope drop, it sort of negates that benefit.

In response to the complaint about only being able to get a FP+ for either TT or Soarin, someone suggested doing one at RD. That's fixing a problem that wasn't there until they decided to fix something that wasn't broken.

I think this makes so much sense it confuses people.

It's too bad there's absolutely nothing else to do at the parks while waiting for our FP times.

Surely there's more than buying snacks and shopping for souvenirs? Besides we still had to "wait around" for our specific FP window with the paper FP's.
.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not? I really hope so. Have you tried heading over to Tom Sayers island? Sorcerers of the magic kingdom? A pirates adventure? The last thing I would ever do is wait around for a fast pass.

Sarcasm in response to the "stand around" time of a previous poster. ::yes::

The last time I went to WDW, I didn't have time to shop. I don't understand the theory that FP+ exists to get us to spend more money while waiting when there's so much to do other than shop and eat Dole Whips.

Ok thank goodness! I was a little worried about you for a second!

Follow the Kenny link the PP posted, he has it there. Damn, I was so busy working on other people's FP+ issues the last few days I didn't have a chance to finish up mine. UGH.

Same here... 5 days left at the WDWorld, and this is what happens. Really, Disney? I was so up on MBs and FP+ until this little glitch. UGH! is right.

Hey you can PM now (I think, let me know on here if it doesn't work!)

I must say I do enjoy the irony in that situation. :)

I've said it before, but 3 FP+s isn't enough, and tiering them makes it even worse.

Except it's a false premise. It isn't just late sleepers who like the idea of FP+.

People who have to visit at the busiest times, people who like to park hop, and people who didn't care to use FP runners think FP+ can work well for them even if they are used to arriving early.

BTW- Toy Story Mania at Calfornia Adventure? No Fastpass and rarely a wait more than 45-50 minutes. The situation at WDW is ridiculous. If Disney were smart they would remove FP/FP+ from that ride and make everybody wait standby.

You are telling the truth! We rode it in DCA on 4th of July and had only a 30 minute wait. Unbelievable!!!

We have only been to DCA twice and both time we had to go directly to TSMM at rope drop because later in the day the line was super long. One time we got in it after dinner and the line moved sooooo slow. Both times were summer, so maybe that made a difference.

Anyway...well, well, well intersting turn of events. I see some who dont think that FP+ is the cat's meow anymore.

Just remember, rides are NOT important, so only getting the one headliner attraction should not be a big deal. Tsk tsk rides should not be your first priority. I mean you are getting the privilege of just being there, for a admission fee of course, so you should just be happy to soak up the atmosphere of staring at the big Golf Ball (oops I mean Geosphere) and being able to buy overpriced trinkets in World Showcase;););)

Gee and see I thought WDW actually learned someting from this testing earlier that their guests did not like the tiering and they got rid of it and now it is back.

We had our FPs booked for Dec before all this, I told DH not to touch a single thing. We are done tweaking ANY of the parks.

What a mess!

It seems to me that what they learned is that they don't have enough headliner capacity.

I'm know they had tiering when they tested it last year. Then they moved away from that structure. I'm guessing they heard a lot of feedback about how much people disliked the tiers. Then they found out that as much as people dislike tiers, they're going to have to use them.

That's what happens when you start tinkering.

Just to add one more point to Granmanh603 post, its a testament to what is happening at Disney right now that people are happy their vacation is over and they are heading home. I saw this in a couple of posts. Not sure a vacation destination wants their guests to feel this way after spending time there

And alot of posts of people, including our family, not planning their next vacation to Disney for at least a year or more.

What a mess!

We just loved DCA. Carsland was so well done! Well, except Luigi's Tires...kind of lame if you are 2 adults riding it together. We got FPs for RSR and WOC first, then rode the other 2 Carlsland rides. Headed over to Calif Screamin (was down, but opened later that day), hopped in line for TSMM. It was about 10:30ish I think. Soarin was even better - only 10-15 minutes the whole day. I don't think California people like that one as much. Anyway, my sister who is local, thought I was crazy b/c I insisted on rope drop, had touring plans, a FP strategy, etc, etc. I had a blast!!!

I have been wondering what DL will do about FP+. It's attendance is mostly made up of SoCal locals. The percentage of visitors who stay on site is tiny. WDW & DLR had the same FP- system. Will they have the same FP+ system. I can't see it working as well with locals.

I predict very few will like it if they are limited to one headliner FP+.

Maybe Carsland helps divert the crowds away from TSMM. It was not built when we were there.

And alot of posts of people, including our family, not planning their next vacation to Disney for at least a year or more.

And many, many more that are but not talking about it. It is natural for those that are not pleased with something to make more notice of it than those that are pleased.

How can rides not be important? I see that comment sometimes but what's left without rides and shows? At least until evening that is.

I often dream of going to Italy and might just try to do so in the next few years. I bet that I can stroll around and see amazing things and that I can get better food and find plenty to do. Disney doesn't have the market cornered on that.

I would bet that just as many people are planning as usual. However will they be as eager to plan future trips once they actually experience all of this? We have no way of knowing of course.

Well gall durn it! I have been rolling with the changes and made my FP+ selections for our upcoming trip and now I have a sick feeling in my stomach! The app says one thing and the website says another so screen shots don't help. I hate not knowing that if we all get in line that all of won't be able to ride a ride that we all are supposed to have FP for. I'm trying not to panic anyone else in our party so I'm swallowing all the new info and it's killing me! They really won't care much one way or the other (travelling with children and two newbies) but all I can say is that I am definitely NOT going back anytime soon! Whatever benefits they had before are gone and any vacations in the future will not involve waiting in lines! Bahamas here we come!

Really? 1 person is testament? Because I know 5 families personally that have gone recently and loved it. They aren't all laid back and generally content people either.

What about you? Have you been to WDW lately?

I don't love this change to FP+ but I intend to drive on and have a lovely vacation. I already sent my opinion off to WDW and it's time to move on.

No I haven't and don't plan on going until the powers that be at Disney get their heads out of the backsides.
Also I said I have read many posts from people who said they were glad that their vacation was done,so I'm not basing it off of one person. Your basing your opinion from 5 families so that isn't much of a sample size either. I hope you have a wonderful vacation and you have no problems. You have your opinion I have mine nothing wrong with either.

It's too bad there's absolutely nothing else to do at the parks while waiting for our FP times.

Surely there's more than buying snacks and shopping for souvenirs? Besides we still had to "wait around" for our specific FP window with the paper FP's.

I don't think this changes much except that WDW will have the ability to disperse the crowds throughout the park when it comes to the people that will just take the suggested times and attractions that are given when a guest pre-books the FPs using the suggestion tool and then never bothers to change the time because they don't know how or just don't really care to.

I guess I don't understand the sarcasm. :confused3 My point was that if Disney is attempting to create more time for folks to spend money, that opportunity was always there. There is generally a little down time waiting for the window to open, and if folks want to use that time for snacks or shopping, they always could. I never suggested that all there was to do between attractions was shop or eat (although I admit I do both ;)), but was suggesting that I do nto think that the FP+ is going to open any money doors for WDW.
