Biergarten Yay or Nay?

Another YAY! I used to live in Germany and it reminds me of the Biergarten down the street from my apartment there. :thumbsup2 The food is fabulous.

DH and I went alone on this trip and ate with 3 other couples and we all had a blast! We ended up staying longer than we'd anticipated to chat away with them--they were wonderful people. So, don't be afraid of sitting with strangers--we go every trip and I've only had one uncomfortable meal and our server apologized to me for our boorish table mates. It was a family who were not aware of the group seating (although they tell everyone at the podium) and the mother was just downright rude to us for sitting at "her" table.

We have had a poitive and negative here. I think our negative had to do with it being too late. I would only eat here earlier in the evening while the buffet is fresh and not picked over and dry.

As for the group seating it is really just part of the atmosphere. Not a big deal, more like being on a cruise.

We will definitely try this one again, it is very fun.

I keep hearing great things about the atmosphere at Biergarten. Should we check it out this trip? I think my little girls would love the dancing and my in-laws and husband would love the food. The only thing I worry about is what my girls could eat and what I could eat. THe menu seems to be all meat items. I am a vegetarian and my girls will only eat fish and chicken.

For us, it's a big YAY, mostly for the atmosphere and beer. But the food is good too. Not many people seem to have picked up on the fact that you mentioned being vegetarian though. There's pretty much ony salad and some potato dishes for you there. There IS stuff like chicken for you girls though.

I did not want to eat here at all. That said, I ended up having a really good time. The atmosphere was great and even though I'm weird about meat I was fine. Plus the beer helped. ;)

I think we're going to take the kids this next time, I think they'd like the atmosphere.

YAY! We love it. My favorites ... the spaetzle (sp?) and the pretzel bread. YUM!!!!!! We love this buffet.

We enjoyed the entertainment too.

NAY - from me

I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant and being seated with people you didn't know. It made for a really unique and fun experience.

BUT,

We hated, hated, hated the food. I thought it was the most disgusting food I've ever eaten in my life.

Yay here, we've been twice and I've enjoyed it both times. It's my DH's favorite and he's put it on the list for next trip too.

Yay!!!

Loved it, and my picky 10 yr old loved it too.

Didn't mind sitting with strangers.. we ate, enjoyed the entertainment, and had a good time.

Okay - you guys have convinced me to try it! I certainly don't mind sitting with other people! And my in-laws and kids would LOVE the entertainment. My husband would love all the meat choices. I can always grab a snack after if I cannot find enough to eat. It sounds like something different and worth a try! Thanks guys!

Another Yaay!! I was solo so of course sat with other couples and I found that to be very pleasant!! I love german food anyway but this was exceptional! The roast pork was the best I ever had and the black forest cake was YUMMY!!The band was great! Give it a try!!

Another YAY from us! The oompah band is fun and the food is always good. Even if not eating at Biergarten, its worth stopping by sommerfest for a beer, Pretzel and black forrest cake! Yum!

I was fine there; I'm also a vegetarian. Just beware of a few of the cold salads; for example, the potato salad had bacon in it. The lighting is low, so keep an eye out or ask the waitstaff for help. The desserts are great.

I haven't read the whole thread, but have a question...we have reservations for lunch in June. Do they do the shows at lunch as well as dinner?

After all these great reviews I am sooo excited to go b/c I am convinced my family will love everything about it and I will love the atmosphere! And desserts! YEAH!! THis is one ADR I am feeling very good about thanks to all your positive reviews! THank you!

Does anyone know what the entertainment schedule is like here? Last year we went to Biergarten and enjoyed the lunch. We didn't have an ADR, we just walked in when they first opened (11:00 AM?). Anyway, the food was great, but the entertainment didn't start while we were there (until 11:45ish?).

We would like to take the in-laws there during our July trip, but would like to try to be there while entertainment is going on.

Thanks!

Yes that's when I went!! MY RESSIE WAS 12:30 AND THE SHOW WAS AROUND 1 OR 1:15P

Hi everyone,

Would you recommend getting an ADR for only 2 people here? Also, some of you mentioned that the buffet gets kind of dry and nasty later in the night. What time would you recommend eating dinner here?

AND....most importantly, what kind of beer do they serve? lol

Thanks!
