We have the Candlelight Processional dinner package booked with our dinner at Biergarten (Germany).

I just took a look at the menu and I couldn't understand a thing on it. :confused3 I don't eat pork or roast beef so I'm a little worried about what these items are and what is in them.

I'm wondering if we should re-book, but I'll have to do it ASAP!!

Please help!!

From what I remember of eating there last time with DH we loved it! We are both big meat eaters tho. There is a lot of meat on the buffet but there was some fish and there are other things that u might like, but if you aren't sure i'd have to say go for some place else. My grandfather is from austria so this food wasn't new to me, but someone who ahsn't tried it may want to play it safe! When we go in December we are going there first because we loved it!

I thought that they had something for everyone’s taste. Unlike KatGarcia I am not a big meat eater. I remember the chicken soup. Went back for seconds on the soup. I don’t usually do that in a buffet. One of the waitresses told me that at home her family would add the spaetzle to the soup. I did. YUM ! Spaetzle is little noodle dumplings. I also enjoyed the cheese and cold cuts and the salad bar.

I thought it was pretty good.

Don't end up like my DH. Somehow he missed a whole section of food. I didn't know about it until later (I thought he just didn't want the food at that section). He said next time we go, I have to go up with him and show him what to get.

We ate at biergarten this week and loved it, but honestly, one of the things that made it great was the meat selections. For a non meat eater there was only salmon and some salad selections. Even a lot of the salads had some kind of meat in them. The entertainment was fun and the beer was yummy, but honestly, if you're not a meat fan, I think you should try something else.

JMO! Aloha! :sunny:

Roast pork is just that. A big piece (5lbs or so) of of pork that is roasted in an oven for a period of time(baked, is not quite the correct term but you do use the "bake" cycle of your oven). Have you ever had or done a roasted turkey or chicken, the process is similiar. Take the raw piece of meat, place in pan, place in an oven at a certain temperature 350 degrees is possible. Then after a certain period of time, it is done, so you remove from oven and eat.

There really is nothing in them.

Bratwurses and german sausages are basically hot dogs, although they have more flavor.

Beef roulade is a rolled piece of meet with a stuffing inside of it. I can't remember what the Biergarten's stuffing is.

Chicken schnitzel is a breaded flattened piece of chicken that is pan-fried with a gravy. Think of chicken-fried steak if you are from the south.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your replies...I looked up the restaurant's menu and this is what it said:

Oktoberfest Adult Dinner Buffet - Seasonal salads, Traditional sausages sauerbraten, Rotisserie chicken, Roasted pork, Fish, Red cabbage sauerkraut, Potatoes, Spaetzle, Schnitzel, Frikadellen, and Assorted Desserts including Apple Strudel, Black Forest cake and Bavarian Cheesecake.

I have no idea what Spaetzle, Schnitzel, and Frikadelle are. I only eat chicken and beef, so I'm hoping that everything isn't pork and sausage! If someone could explain these items that would be great!

Thanks again!

Whoops!! Gatour...you beat me to it! Thanks for the extra info....the chicken sounds great, thats right up my aisle!

Its definitely reassuring to hear that you are a vegetarian and had no problems eating at Biergarten. I consider myself a very picky eater, so at first I was a bit worried. And if I can't find much to eat for dinner, then that just means more room for dessert!!

The desserts are really good, and if you drink beer, it's practically free-flowing.

To bad it's not free, too.

Spaetzle is kind of hard to describe. The ingrediates are similiar to pasta but the result is vastly different. They are noodle like but very light and airy. They are treated the same way as noodles in regards that they usually are sauced. If I remember correctly the Biergarten had a cream sauce.

sauerkraut is pickled cabbage and is quite pungent. If you ever walked near the front of the restaurant or the counter service stand in the same building, the aroma you smell is the sauerkraut. It is one of them love it or hate things

DestinationDisney, I think you will be fine as there are several different roasted items which is as near to Middle America as you can get.

Gatour -

Thanks for your help, I think I should be fine too!! Plus there is always room for dessert at the end!! :teeth:

My family took me there for my birthday in January and we loved it. The beer was great, the entertainment was fun, and the food was really good. I'm quite daring foodwise and I tried everything that they offered. There was only one dish I didn't care for ( I can't remember what it was now). Overall, a very good experience especially if you are a big eater as it is an all-you-can-eat buffet. There was tons to choose from but it seems that most things had some meat in them.

I love German food so I loved Biergarten!
My very picky son loved it as well. He had what he thought was chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, and the best pudding in the world next to my grandma's.
We've been there twice and loved it both times. :thumbsup2

I'm a German veggie and never ate there because I hate german food. Went in Dec 2005 and LOVED it..... tons of things I liked on the salad bar and the veggies and potatoes.

The desserts weren't very authentic, I thought, nor did the German staff. Spaetzle are noodle dumplings, Schnitzel is a veal cutlet, Frikadellen are meat patties like spiced hamburgers.

Is not Biergarten related, but I read that you're going to Punta Cana next month. I'm from Dominican Republic, and you're going to love the place, is really great, Have fun.
