We would like to book a lunch at Biergarten but cant remember if the band plays at lunch or not. This is our DSIL 1st trip and this has been our daughters favorite place for years at WDW and she wants to introduce him to the place. But she wants the full experience. We tend to eat dinner here, been yrs since we had lunch. My DW got me questioning myself about the band and when they play. So, my question is for you folks in the know...does the band perform for lunch?

There's a schedule of show times out there somewhere. Maybe buried on the Disney site...under Epcot
entertainment possibly. I'm sorry I don't remember exactly where but I just saw it last week when looking for info on my October trip.

Yes it does play at lunch. We typically make a 1pm reservation and the band plays during our meal. Google the times, plan your meal a little before the start time, that way if you are seated late you'll be good.

I don't remember the exact timing, but when we went in January, we had a reservation at the time they opened for lunch. We were able to see the whole show, and it was actually kind of nice because we had already gotten our food and were settled in when the show started.

What kind of "show" do you get? Is it just music?

Thinking of trying Biergarten because my son and I never had German food before.

Trying to figure if it's worth the price and if we'll like the food.

Go to wdwent.com and get the schedule. Click on the Epcot tab and then Germany and you'll find it. The band definitely plays at lunch. We normally will schedule our seating for about fifteen minutes before a performance time and that gives us enough time to be seated, order drinks, get a plate of food and then be back when the show starts.

As for the show, it's a full German band and you might think that's "just music" but there is a dance floor and everyone of all ages are encouraged to come up and do whatever they want. If you've never been there, it's worth a try and we've never left without a smile on our faces and it wasn't just the beer :)

Notes - the seating is just like in a beer hall so you will be seated at a table for eight and if you are a party of two, there will be up to six other people there. Some people like it, some don't.

Also - check the beer prices if you are so inclided to imbibe. The big mug is a decent price for a theme park but it is, um, big. However, if you cannot finish it, simply ask for a to go cup and you can take the rest with you. I can order a big mug for lunch at 2:15 and still be drinking it when Illuminations goes off that night.

. . . Oom Pah band and alpine horns
. . . also accordions (when was the last time you heard these?)
. . . Singing
. . . Audience Dancing participation (usually only at dinner)

. . . good comfort food

Trying to figure if it's worth the price and if we'll like the food.
. . . yes, typically, worth the buffet price

NOTE: Seating is on long beer-hall tables, so other families will be seated with you.
Though WDW likes to Americanize its food, Biergarten remains quite authentic. Above
average German comfort food. This helps when trying to accommodate those picky eaters
in your family. The "beer hall style" tables mostly have 8-seats, but, there are 3-seat
and 4-seat tables along the upper mezzanine wall. However, one cannot ask for nor reserve
these tables, as they are used as "overflow" as the floor-level seats are taken. In all cases,
tables are pretty close to each other, thus access is tight when standing up. There are minor
differences in food from lunch to dinner. Even "picky people" and kids seem to find items to eat.
.
NOTE2: There is entertainment at both lunch an dinner. However, the dinner "shows"
seem longer with more audience participation. Great for adults AND THE KIDDIES.
Show Times are daily at 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:45, 5:55, 7:00, 8:05pm.

When we were there in 2014 we had a 11:30 ADR but the band wasn't due to play until 1:15 so we totally missed it :( we are planning this place again in 2017 but for dinner so I will be checking band times before I book my ADR lol

1) If important to see the band, just stay put and wait.
2) As an FYI, WDW cannot and will not force you to leave after eating.
. . . this applies to any eatery
. . . this also applies to eateries with fireworks views
