Biergarten - Never Again!

My parents are from Germany so we avoided this place for years. finally we wnet and were dumbfound the food was good. The DDs loved the entertainment. We have gone several times and do occasionally have seating issues. If you are in a large group its a good choice.

Sorry you had such a bad experience there. We went with a party of 15 and loved everything about it; the food, service and entertainment.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We eat their for LUNCH every trip! My father-in law is from Germany and just loves to go there. We always go around 12-1, and its never crowded and service and the food is very good.

We chose the Biergarten as our CP dining option. I chose it for a few reasons, price, location, closer walk to AG venue and entertainment factor. I remember I posted a thread about the seating concerns I had. That was secondary compared to the dining experience itself. The buffet lines were really long. The restraunt itself was so dark it was hard to see the food and where you were walking with a full plate etc. When we went up to the buffet. The salad was almost empty, the carrots, potatoes, roasted chicken and chicken shnitzel were empty as well as the rolls, not to mention in the chicken soup there was no chicken, basically broth. Our server was non existent alot of the time, but towards the end refilled our drinks alot. She didnt actually speak to us, I did ask her where she was from. We had a table of 8, our own family of 5, dh, myself and the 3 teen ds, we were seated with a approx 90 year old grandma and her son and daughter from Calif. He said his family sold walt disney land for disneyland and he worked at star tours in disneyland. We were so squished with the table behind us etc. My 3 ds begged us never to go back there again. The positives were the pretzel bread type rolls and the apple strudel dessert and some almond thin type pastry.

We also had a rotten time there in March 2005. Terrible service and mediocre food. The lady sitting INSIDE on the bench in the waiting area smoking cigarettes for at least 10 minutes, until I complained to the host standing not 10 feet from her, took the cake.

Sorry your time was bad there.
We have really grown fond of the Biergarten. We go there instead of Norway now.
Luckily we have had good service each time.
But to show you how everyone has a different perspective --
we last ate there the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving.
We had eaten there a few months prior to then last time.
I thought the prior time the food was much better. DH thought this last time the food was better. :confused3
And a lucky little girl at our table was the guest selected to turn on the indoor Christmas tree lights that night. :wizard:

Isn't it interesting how different experiences equate to different opinions. If you look at this thread, it's probably 50/50. We're on the good 50 side. We've eaten there probably half a dozen times and this is one of our favorite restaurants in WDW. My wife is of German decent and she loves the place. I'm not and I love the place. We've never had the experiences some of the others have listed here so that probably explains part of it. And the restrooms are some of the cleanest in Epcot :cool1:

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Any time a restaurant seats total strangers with each other on long narrow tables, there is going to be some people disappointed.

We are of German decent and really have enjoyed the two times we went. The food is a very good approximation of the food our parents and grandparents cooked for us. However, I am sure that it is not to everyone's taste. It certainly has not kept up with modern eating habits. But...authentic it is !

Last time we went, DH was chosen as the Burgermeister...great to get a free stein of beer. We polka'd (by ourselves) and had a great time. However, the other time we were seated with some very unhappy people and the experience was definitely not the best. (the food was better !)

Ditto. We despised this restaurant as well. The food was mediocre (I'm being very generous) server: awful. I wouldn't go again even if it were free!
