Biergarten-lunch or dinner?

We want to do Coral Reef and Biergarten on the same day. Which one is best for lunch? Coral Reef menu looks the same for both meals. Thought?

The meals at Biergarten are pretty much the same for lunch or dinner. The soups are the only difference (as per a conversation with the chef). The entertainment starts a little late at lunch though. I think 1:15 is the first show so we ate later than normal for us to get to see it. And we always leave there extremely full so we try to plan it when we won't be doing a ton of walking or any thrill rides right after. If you prefer a bigger meal at dinner vs. lunch I'd keep that in mind.

As much as we love Biergarten I wouldn't do it at lunch. The food is just too rich and heavy. And so is the beer. You can have a much lighter lunch at Coral Reef.

I love biergarten at lunch and actually prefer it that way. the food isn't too heavy for me. I agree with the poster above that the food is almost identical for both lunch and dinner. I'd make the decision based on which side of epcot you'll be on. I'd do biergarten at dinner because you'll be closer to illuminations that way.

The first Biergarten show is at 12:30. Show times: Daily at 12:30, 1:20, 2:20, 3:20, 4:45, 6:00, 7:15 & 8:15pm

There was a recent thread discussing the difference between Biergarten's lunch and dinner. The consensus seems there is little difference. I would choose whichever makes sense to your park touring.

If on the DDP, I'd go with Coral Reef for lunch with an earlier seating time (eg at opening). Same menu for lunch and dinner. Somewhat less crowded at an early seating, better chance to get a table closer to the tank, the servers are fresh, less tired and the menu is a good value to max your plan. If paying OOP, then Biergarten for lunch and have a very light meal for dinner. I would consider a Biergarten lunch to be my big meal of the day.

I just reread the OP and realized you want to do both restaurants on the same day. I thought you were trying to choose between them for lunch. No wonder my post doesn't make a lot of sense.o_O Eating at both in one day would be a lot of food IMHO. However, you may be able to find lighter entrees or appies at Coral Reef for lunch and then do up the Biergarten buffet big for dinner. If possible, I would try to schedule them for separate days as many of the entrees at Coral Reef are rich and filling. If I am trying to use up an extra TS credit on the DDP, and I book Coral Reef for an early lunch, then I book a lighter table service for dinner like Teppan Edo or Tokyo Dining. Otherwise, it is just food overload for me. Best wishes.

Unless this is new the first time was after 1 when we've eaten in the past including just last week. We made a 12:35 ADR because of that and we were almost done before the show started.

There are major differences in lunch and dinner at Biergarten. For supper they include more beef and pork selections (Braised Beef Roulades; Sauerbratenand for example) and other items such as potatoes selections. It's not heavy meals but it is filling. Check out allears.net dining to see.

The Biergarten menu at allears hasn't been updated since September 2014 and, therefore, is completely unreliable. Both beef rouladen and sauerbraten are now on the lunch menu per both recent eyewitness reports AND Disney's official online menu: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/epcot/biergarten-restaurant/menus/lunch/. There are no major differences between the two meal services anymore.

Probably, it changes seasonally. There was definitely a pre-1:00 pm show in November when we went. And, that is the schedule for this week according to wdwent.com which is very reliable, IME. It might be best not to make an early lunch ADR if the show is important to you, for sure!

Agree with this since the OP is trying to do both restaurants on the same day (I would never be able to handle two sit down places in one day but that's me). You can do a lighter lunch at Coral Reef but having to stick to something light at a buffet and a German buffet for lunch if you want another sit down dinner that evening would be too much.

is
!
Actually, I just clicked on the link here and NO rouladen or sauerbraten is listed.

When I have gone to the Biergarten in the past they used to have rouladen and sauerbraten (my favorite) at lunch and dinner, then a few years ago they moved those items to dinner only. We asked about it and we were told that they were indeed dinner only. So now we only go for dinner because we love the sauerbraten.
