We ate here years ago from a menu. I remember it as a pleasant experience although I'm not too keen on this type of food. My husband is so we gave it a try last night. We were so disappointed! I was surprised to find out it is a buffett first of all. Second of all I thought it was overpriced for what was offered. Last, maybe because this is not a busy time of year, the food was really bad. Like it had been sitting for a while. And we only caught about 5 minutes of a show and then it was gone, and we spent the rest of our meal watching the family seated next to us (at the same table) for entertainment. If price includes dinner and a show, they probably should not take long breaks. I think that if we had come 5 minutes later there would have been no entertainment for us at all. We will never ever go there again.

Sorry you had bad luck there--we always have had a great time. Haven't been there since 2004 though...:confused3

:cool1: Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. We LOVE Biergarten! Hopefully we will enjoy it again when we go back in August.

I am surprised that you didn't know it was a buffet. I check menus before I make my ADR's...it removes a lot of that disappointing type of surprises...of course with WDW they can alway change the menu the day you get there;)

I always tell people that are thinking of going to Disney, you have to do your homework even if you've been there in the past. Yours is an example why.

Wasnt it obvious when you got there, before you were seated, that it was buffet with communal tables? Also if you are picky, you should probably look at the buffet before committing to it, and DEFINITELY the menu and reviews before even reserving:rolleyes1 (JMO)

We weren't that crazy about the place, either. Even though there were plenty of seats available, we were orginally placed RIGHT next to a couple who made it quite clear they had no intention of conversing with us. The waiter came back a second later and informed us that since it was our honeymoon, we could sit at a private table that faced the stage. It was much nicer. And during the show they toasted us which made us feel uber special.
As for the food, I wasn't too keen on it, and I'm German, for Pete's sake! I just found it heavy, and there wasn't that much selection. Oh, and that is NOT spaetzle! My husband didn't mind the food as much, but hey, he's Belgian. ;)

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. My family loves it. We don't make it to Disney every year but always make time to eat there. We went to the real Germany last year on vacation so we may not go when we are in Disney this October but it is still a possibility. Yum! Fun environment!

@ vancesmom

There is a "real" Germany ??? :rotfl2: :lmao:

Just kidding, hope you enjoyed our country.

Loved your country!!! I was born in Berlin (Air Force baby). So, it was wonderful to show my husband and son where I spent the first few years of my life. Berlin to Munch and some time in smaller Bavarian towns. Can't wait to go back. I only wish I could get a Berliner Weisse at Epcot.

Before I made our ADR for the Biergarten I checked this entertainment website to see what time the performances would be held that evening. Then I made our ADR about 30 min. prior to one of the performances (to allow for slow seating). We were able to see the whole show and enjoyed it (and the meal) very much.

I agree the atmosphere is fun and the show is great. The food is good even tough I don't eat a lot of high fat food. Also, everyone show do some homework on where you are eating. With Boards like this and the internet, nothing should be a surprise:confused3

Can you please give us some details on the food? What was served? What didn't you like and why? What entertainment did they have? Would it have been ok if it was longer?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it. It has been a buffet for a long time, over 10 years. We really enjoy the Biergarten everytime we go. And my DH is half German!! He loves it too. :)

I booked this restaurant for our June 2007 trip. I did check the menu out. What foods do you find heavy?

I don't particularly like German food, (I went to the "real Germany" in 1999 and ate Twix bars the whole time!) But they have chicken and potatoes and food that tasts un-german at the Biergarten. German food is heavy, meaning it fills you up quick I think! Mostly I think it's expensive bceeause you have the show going on while you eat, not necessarily because of the food.
WHen I was little my dad had one of those Chevy Chase video camera's,( i call them that cause of the one he used in Nat. Lampoons European Vacation) and some guy yelled at my dad at the Beirgarten for taking videos cause my dad just wanted a shot of the stage and apparenty this guy didn't want video taping at his table.. ahhh ... community tables...

We ate at Biergarten on our Jan. trip and had a very nice lunch. I did change my ADR once I found out the show didn't start for awhile after the restaurant opened. I'm glad we got to see the show, although it was shorter than I expected.

The food was ok. Some things I liked alot and some things I didn't care for, but that's usually the case on a buffet. Everyone in our group (4 adults, 4 children) was full when we left.
