I'm not expecting Boma or anything, but can anyone enlighten me on what is available for vegetarians at Biergarten? Do the chef's make anything special to accomodate?

Also, from the second edition of Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Orlando by Susan Shumaker and Than Saffel, "There's not much to choose from at Germany's Biergarten either. The eighty-four-foot buffet provides authentic German cuisine, but the only options we've found are potato salad, red cabbage, wine kraut, and spaetzle. With advance notice, Germany's chefs can create goodies like potato pancakes or dumplings in a mushroom stock sauce."

Hope this helps!

I've never eaten at Biergarten because they have limited vegetarian offerings on their menu. However, according to Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Oralndo by Susan Shumaker and Than Saffel, with advance notice the chef can make potato pancakes or dumplings in mushroom stock.

The book is excellent for making suggestions of vegetarian dishes that the chefs can prepare (with advance notice). I highly recommend it.

I ate there about a year ago, and there was plenty for me. No, it certainly isn't Boma, but most of the cold salads are veggie, and three or four of the hot items are--really, that was enough. The desserts are great.

I remember your review because I was surprised that it actually sounded pretty good. So there were some hot items that were vegetarian?

Yes, the menu lists them. Just beware of the potato salad! It is not veggie. :)

I'm not a vegetarian, but my wife eats mostly veg, and she loves Biergarten. There are usually several cold salads that are available, including an excellent tomato salad (my favorite salad in WDW) and a beet salad and a cucumber salad. There is also wine-cooked thinly sliced sauerkraut (delicious!), spaetzle and they've also had a potato side dish (not just the potato salad). And does beer count? Their pretzel rolls are also very good and filling.

Have a great trip!

We ate there with my mom who is a vegetarian and she absolutely loved it. She found plenty to eat with no problems.

And does beer count?

I wish since I would have happily made a meal out of one of those liters of beer, but since I'm pregnant, I'll have to pass on that one. ;)

It sounds like there is enough to keep me happy there. Pretzel bread alone sounds great. Thank you all!
