Hello ladies and gents! ;-) We were in Disney a couple of weeks ago and ate at my new favorite restaurant Biergarten. I had asked our server, Maksim, for a light beer and he told me to have the Oktoberfest. This beer was AMAZING, but unfortunately I did not catch the name of it! :-( I was hoping someone knows the name of this beer so I can find it up here in NYC. Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

My husband believes it was Spaten Martzen Oktoberfest. At one time they had a Altenmuller or Altenmunster Oktoberfest Bier, not sure if that is still available.

Trust me, it won't taste as good as it will on vacation!:lmao:

I always have a glass of Boddington from the R&C and it never tastes as good anywhere else.

Most likely it was Becks Oktoberfest or Spaten Oktoberfest. Both as personal favorites of mine! I know my german beers! :drinking1 They are also pretty easy to find during the fall. It may be a little more difficult to find those exact beers in the spring as they are pretty seasonal. If you can't find the Oktoberfests, try the regualrs. You will probably like them just as much!

I'm pretty sure it was Spaten. They have two beers at the restaurant: Oktoberfest and Optimator (with is my DH's favorite beer). Both are part of the beer flight. You can also get the Spaten Oktoberfest outside in Sommerfest. (That was all true as of the last time we were there in July. Not sure if anything has changed.)

Oh and, you can find Spaten around here! ;) Like I said, it's DH's favorite so he gets it from our local liquor store often.

They switched from Spaten last year and I think the beer is now Altenmunster Oktoberfest along with Radeberger Pils. (i prefer the Spaten - the Altenmunster was pretty bland).

:scared1:

This is really upsetting news. We are seriously considering canceling our ADR.....the main reason we went there was for the Spaten. :sad2:

It is the Altenmunster - Thanks everyone! I knew it wasn't Spaten or Beck's, since I get them all the time and knew I had never had this one before. It was delicious! We have lots of German restaurants here, plus there is a beer store in my neighborhood that has every type of beer you can imagine so hopefully I will find it! It probably will not taste as good as it did in Disney, but I can pretend I'm there! ;-)

Really? For beer that you can find in any grocery store and drink at home?

The new beers are quite good!

I know....but it's all about the experience. Really the reason is more complicated....in our short trip weekend trip, we are eating there twice, once with my family and once with DH's. DH and his brother love to get Spaten Optimator whenever they get together (which is not often) and the one thing they wanted to do together was sit in the Beirgarten and have their Spaten. This will be the first time they are in WDW together. But just talked to everyone and they are all still on board with going there so maybe we will find some new beer that's just as delish! :thumbsup2

My favorite Optimator story is when my brother bought one-- a HUGE one-- at 11:30 am while we were waiting on our noon ADR at Biergarten. It is not an easy-to-drink beer and he was trying to finish the whole thing so as not to waste money. I think that soured him on Optimator forever! We still joke about that beer to this day, three years later.

It's deadly! That is certainly not a beer you want to chug! I can't even drink it at home...but for some reason, it goes down really smoothly in Epcot! DH just had a good point. Since we'll be at Beirgarten on the first day of our trip with my family, he'll get the flight and find a beer he knows his brother will enjoy so everyone can be happy when we eat with them! :thumbsup2
