Maybe the school has dress code policies that prohibit certain vocabulary on shirts, including the word krew which can definitely be gang related.

Keeping gang violence out of schools in both very complex and very difficult. One way that schools achieve that is by having dress codes that are both very specific and very clear. That way teachers and administrators aren't having to make judgement calls about which artists to allow, or which words can be followed by the term "krew".

I'd rather have my child follow a strict dress code, than have him exposed to gang recruitment and violence in his school.

well then I guess my sweet little almost 12 year old daughter is a gangbanger too. A very intimidating group of herself & 3 equally scary girlfriends painted their nails in matching glow in the dark colors and changed into matching home made hand written glow in the dark shirts yesterday at school then...gasp.. Met for a planned meeting before heading to squeal at his 3D movie last night. I just thought in was the new Beatlemania,Menudo,New Kids on the block thing. Guess I better put her on lockdown

I guess my niece and her friends who can't stand Bieber (or Twilight or any of that. . .) are really a major hard core gang then; I mean they paint their nails black and dye their hair strange colors. They even wear their black and yellow socks when they dance to their favorite rap song. . .what's next, robbing banks?

On a more serious note - those poor girls! They're being normal, giggly teens and get a smackdown! Oof. I'd be massively upset if I was one of their parent. . .if and when I ever stopped laughing, of course. ("My little Casey in a Justin Beiber gang? What, do they sell black market hair product or sing dopey love songs in a threatening manner?")

I commend the school for nipping this in the bud. Next thing you know, those girls will be circulating petitions to have boy bands brought back or-even worse-DISCO!!!
