Bibity Bobity Botique are they really strict with the 3 year old

Looks like you're getting a 50-50 response so I don't think we're helping you much! I wonder how you will handle rides in the future when one is tall enough and the other isn't? Personally, I think that not everything in life has to be fair and equal at every single moment. If the older sister is tall enough for the ride and the younger sister isn't, then I will wait with younger one while the older goes on. It's not fair for her to always have to wait until her younger sister is old enough / tall enough / etc. to do things. And sometimes girls want something special without their younger sibling always tagging along.

Full disclosure - I'm an oldest child with one younger sister. I agree with the PP about the ear piercing thing, same experience for me! I had to wait 'til I was 9, little sister got them done at the same time.

I don't agree that "life lessons" can't be taught at Disney or on any family vacation. We learn lots of things there about patience, that not everyone follows the rules but that doesn't mean we don't have to, how we can all manage to get along after being stuck together in a small room all week, etc. I think understanding that sometimes one sister gets to do something while the other doesn't is just one more aspect of how our family works.

Now I'm going to contradict myself and agree with other posters who said that unless the 3-year-old knows about this and is asking for it, you might want until she's older and will remember it better! Good luck deciding!

I know its hard to teach a 2 year that she/he has to wait to do stuff.

Just wait till the kids are older, and one is too old to do certain things - some kids can handle it better than others. I remember my disappointments that I couldn't get a certain thing but then there were a few things I could do because I was older, and my sister was younger in age & had to wait etc

Good thing I have a niece and nephew, and my nephew wouldnt care if his sister did this but its not an expense I can afford to turn my niece into Princess Belle etc for the day even though she would LOVE it.

How close is ur 2yo to being 3? My dd was 3mo shy. I know this was against policy but my 2yo and 6yo both did it. Sorry BBB! We stayed onsite but noone asked me about where I was staying. Noone questioned her age upon arrival. My dd-2 love dress up and painting her nails so I knew she would sit. She as well as my 6yo was excellent! She would have been very upset to know that her sis got to dress up and not her. If you feel this is not a time for her, u can purchase all the items in the BBB shopping area and u can b her fairygodmother!

I'm glad you asked about this, but really, you should do what you feel is best. There are a lot of strong opinions on this thread!!!

My daughter is a year and a half older than my son. She's done the boutique many times. The first time she did it, she had just turned three. They do ask when you make the reservation, but they never ask for any type of proof or anything. They never even asked her how old she was.

My son has gone at least once and sat through the boutique while his sister was getting all made up. He was young and didn't mind it at all. After he turned 3, we started letting him to the "cool dude" thing there and he loved it. I'm not sure if your two-year-old would really mind the difference if you let the older one go and she was able to watch. We were there last September. My niece and daughter were getting their make-up done while my son hung out with us and our other niece watched. She was almost 2. My sister put a cute little princess dress on her and they let her sit in the big chair and sprinkled glitter on her too. She was very happy with that!

it seems like the older child is being penalized for being born first :confused3

Interesting to see the different perspectives from older and younger siblings. I know people want it to be 'fair', but it isn't. Someone will always be able to do things the other isn't.

You have to be 3 to do this, next time we come, you too will be 3 and can do this. nothing wrong with that :thumbsup2

There is going to be times when your oldest is too old to do something and your youngest can do it. I say go for it. There are plenty of other suggestions here to do with the two year old I don't think she will hold over you the rest of your life ;)

We are running into the problem of DS1 being old enough to do Pirates League and DS2 still being a year too young when we go. SO, I left the choice up to DH on if DS1 got to go. He said no. So what we might do instead is our last day there take them both to the Barber Shop and get both their haircut and colored w/ gel/spray.

I would teach the 2 year old about waiting. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear, but I'm one of those people who don't understand the whole " I can't do x for one child and not the other." Yes you can! In this case, your 2 year old simply isn't old enough to participate in something your 3 year old can and does want to participate in. It's not you "being mean" or "favoring' one child over the other. It's simply the rules. Take the 2 year old to the Harmony Barber Shop and have a little hair cut and have them do a special hair style. They'll even put colored hair gel & pixie dust in their hair. Then head over the the place where BBB princesses have their photo shoots (sorry, can't remember the name of the place) and have your kids' pictures taken together with the princess props and backgrounds.

And just like that....Everyone is happy!:wizard:

We are taking our 4 yo DGD and 2 yo DGD end of this month. We have already booked BBB for 4 yo. The youngest will only turn 2 a week before we are there and even though we know she would sit still, we wouldn't attempt it. Since we have a very early appt. (before park opens), one of us will stay behind and "doll up" the 2 yo @ the resort. We have already purchased a costume and accessories and will add some "pixie dust" to her hair before we take her to meet up with sister. She will be just as beautiful and will love it and won't know that sister got to go to BBB and not her. pixiedust::ssst:

They will even "Pixie Dust" your youngest DGD. Our youngest DD has been been "Pixie Dusted" every trip since she was 15 months old. 2x was while our older DD had an appointment at the BBB and then again on this trip while just walking by the Downtown Disney BBB. They asked if both my girls wanted Pixie Dust". :wizard:

last year i booked before i knew she was 3 and when they first started doing it. when i called back to book something else the CM told me that she had to cancel it ... no big deal we are gonna do it this year cause she is 3 now!!

bottom line they WILL NOT let you.. they are very strict!

my dd did this when she was 2...a month BEFORE her 3rd b day! They knew she was 2 and did not care at all.She sat still and was very good during the process.

they will alllow it 30 days before their birthday. No one made a stink because she was so close. They typically will not do a child they know is not within 30 days of their 3rd birthday.

We had this issue with our girls on our first trip. Our oldest was turning 5 on the trip and our youngest was 2 1/2. We booked BBB for our oldest and explained to our youngest that she wasn't old enough. Then daddy took the youngest out for fun while the oldest was doing BBB. Our youngest never complained that she didn't get to go. Like others have mentioned...if you explain to them, I think most 2 year olds can handle it...especially if you entice them with some of their own fun.

my point was to those who say "they will NOT ALLOW IT AT ALL" BUT I have some friends who went after us and their 2 yr old went to bbb and they never asked how old she was or when her b day is.They walked up and asked if they had a appt they said sure and she became a princess! There are plenty of 2 yr olds that can be still and enjoy the process.I just hate when people come here to ask something and they have people that will say "no they will 100% NOT allow that or they dont do that" when with disney I keep the motto NEVER SAY NEVER:wizard:

Do they require any sort of proof of age? My daughter will be three during our trip but she doesn't look it.

No, they do not. They won't even ask her age. My son did the Pirate League literally days after turning 3yo and he was not questioned at all. In fact, he was listed as 2yo for everything (we checked in the day before he turned 3yo) and they still let me book it without issue. My friend's daughter has the same birthday as my son, also 3yo, and was with us on the trip and she was also allowed in the pirate league without a question asked. In fact, she was hesitant and didn't want to do it and they were super, super sweet and calm with her and she left looking like a pirate! :thumbsup2

And I know this isn't the BBB, but they have the same 3yo rule so I imagine the BBB is the same way. My daughter first did the BBB at 3.5yo and we were never asked about her age so that's why I am guessing they are similar.
