I have a question…. A few people I have read said that the hairdo from BibbityBobbity Boutique lasted for a few days. That they took the tiara out each night, but was able to put it in. I am wondering if this is really true. We have reservations for 9am Breakfast at CRT. So I was wondering if I took my DD the afternoon before to the BBB, if there was a chance it would still be in tact the next day.

We get in on Friday. So I was thinking I could take her to BBB in DownTown Disney that afternoon for a makeover and to pick out a dress. Then she would have it all to wear the next morning to CRT. But if there isn’t a chance of the hair lasting then I think I will wait to do it a day she can enjoy it for the whole day.

DD (5 years old) had her hair (traditional princess bun w/tiara) done at the BBB at 8:30am on a Thursday. We didn't even bother removing the tiara (it's on top of her head, so she wouldn't roll over on it at all) at night. The hair-do lasted until I took it down myself on Monday night to wash her hair. Friday morning I didn't have to do a thing to it to have it look the same as the day before (they use tons of gel & hairspray!). Saturday morning I put just a touch of hairspray to hold in some fly-away hairs. Sunday morning a bit more hairspray. Monday morning I had to add a few extra hairpins and more hairspray (Sunday morning it still looked very nice, Monday morning I had trouble making it presentable but she begged for one last day). Monday evening it took 2 washes to get it clean (although some glitter remained). So it lasted 5 full days (with 4 looking nice). That being said, I don't know how long it would have lasted while we were at WDW.....she had it done the day we flew home, by her request. The weather up here was just as hot and almost as humid as it had been while we were at WDW, but she wasn't riding any rides and such that would have blown her hair around more. So, in my opinion, if you have it done on Friday after you arrive, I think it would still be fine on Saturday morning for your breakfast.....just take some hairspray along for a little fix-up if needed.

How old is your DD?

Mine did BBB right before she turned 4. She was fine all day in the park, but at the end of a long day, she insisted her hair all be taken down before bed. She got maybe 8 hours of wear out of it. My DD is all about suffering for beauty with an audience, but not willing to suffer for the possibility of an audience the next day.

FWIW, she gets up to 3 days out of a face painting.

Thank you for the advice!! My daughter will turn 5 on Dec26th and we are going in Jan. I know she will be ok with leaving it all in. Because we had her hair done up for a dance recital in June and she didn't want me to take it out for 3 days. It was in these special french braids that went into a bun. She beg me to leave it in. To my surprise they were in great shape the next morning. so i let it stay it until it really was in need of being redone. but that wasn't until the 4th day. So I think she will be good in thata regard.

Thanks for the advice about your daughters lasting from Thursday till Monday. Wow that is a lot. I was jsut hoping for 2 days. So it sounds like I will be good to go. I think after 2 days she will want to be in the pool and that will be the end of that. But I'm OK with that too.

So did your girls LOVE it. It looks so cute from what I've read. But I didn't know anyone who had it done.

Did you have to make reservations? Do you remember how to do that.

Is BBB something like Libby Lou (sp)? I took my DD to the latter when we went to DLR and I was disappointed. My DD was happy but I could tell the employee just did not know how to work with my DD's hair type. DD ended up with a lot of glitter and a tiara on the style she came in with. I would love to let DD have the "princess make-over" in the future but want to be sure our experience at BBB wouldn't be a repeat of Libby Lou. Are there any parents of African American children who've been to BBB? If so, what was your experience?

I really don't know, but I do know that some of the ladies I've seen working in there were African American. I would think they would have an idea how to work with your daughter's hair. Hopefully, someone will come along with an experience to share though!

Thanks for all the advice here! We are going for 12 days in Sept. and have reservations at BBB for 9:15 on our 3rd day... CRT @ 1230. I am glad to hear how well the 'do' stays. I was worried about this.
Maybe someone can share.... Both of our girls DD8 and DD5 have VERY long hair.... both down to the bottom of their bums. I am thinking that they will still put up this hair in a bun and use hair extensions? as I am assuming they will not beable to take the time to curl all this hair. (although it takes curl easily) Anyone have any experience with long hair at the BBB?

An even better idean than addimg MORE hairspray is to ahve a spray bottle of water and just use that. The spray and gel will act as a glue when the water is added! Using a spray bottle and a comb, we werea ble to extend the life of any hairstyle that has had gel ut in it without the extra stickiness.

As far a long hair, they will pull it into a ponytail, then braid that into a bun. The extransions are then added over it. They do not use any heat elements at the shop.

Ok... this might be stupid logic on my part...but... i went to the link that is on this thread for the disney site. On it they show a young girl who is african american. She had the Princess up do.

The other thing is...this is Disney and I can't image them not thinking about how different hair can be including ethnic hair. I've been to Libby Lu with my daughter too. And they aren't really trained here at all. They too had issues with my daughters her. My daughter is hispanic and had VERY thick and VERY straight hair. They first girl at Libby Lu was having issues getting it into a pony. So they really didn't inpress me much.

I would think disney would be totally different. But here is another thought...can you call them and ask them about it. I noticed that the site said the had to be freshly washed a combed. Maybe call them and explain and ask them how you should prep your daughters hair so she could get the best experience.

Yes, my DD absolutely LOVED the whole experience. She was a bit nervous about it....really, really wanted to do it, but has never had anyone but me or her grandmas ever brush or trim her hair, plus she is very shy. But the whole time she had a smile on her face and was quite happy. She also surprised me with how much she enjoyed the attention she got from other people when they saw her. Of course, doing this on the day we left, there was a bit different experience from people in Florida than people in Indiana. In Florida, even at the airport, you could tell people knew she had been to WDW. In Indy the looks were "boy is she cute, buy why in the world is she dressed to the nines like Cinderella when it's 5 months before Halloween??" The airline personnel on the plane told her they were so excited to have a princess flying on their plane, which thrilled her to pieces.


LisaZoe.....as for African American hair.....there were several ladies there doing hair that were African American, so I think your DD would be fine. If you go over to the Theme Park Strategies board, there's a thread about the BBB.....several pictures posted throughout the thread with African American girls who look absolutely adorable in their BBB hairdos.

TammySue5......as for long hair, my DD's hair is down to her waist. She had the traditional princess bun hairdo (no extensions added, so I can't say what they do there) and the lady doing her hair did very well with working with all of DD's hair.

If you check out Disney's website, they actually have African American kids in the brouchure posters with the various hairstyles. I think you would therefore be fine.

I have no idea what Libby Lou is, but from my untrained (and non-African American) perspective, I do not think that your daughter's hair type would cause any problems for this type of hairstyle. Basically, there is no "styling" per se, it basically involves combing, spraying and gelling the hair into a bun and clamping a tiara on top. Good luck!
