So I've researched and researched, and can't decide:

We are planning for our second disney vacation. We went 3 years ago when the girls were 6 and 3 and our son was 4.
All 3 did BBB on that trip and the girls loved it...they're asking to do it again this trip.

My hang up is that our girls have gorgeous curly hair which frames their faces and
when I look at the pictures of them after BBB I don't even recognize them and not in a good way!

So for this trip, I'm trying to figure out whether we should do BBB , the mermaid experience at Pirates league
or I've even looked into a third option taking them to a salon to have their hair done special for a dress up day at MK.

Anyone else have a similar situation or recommendations?

I scheduled both BBB and Pirates League for my then 6 year old daughter on our trip last fall. I had a princess pirate costume for her to wear to Pirates League. It had a poofy hot pink and black tutu skirt and was really cute. She enjoyed both experiences. At Pirates League, they left her long hair down but did twist the sides back and put a black and pink scarf on her head. For the mermaid makeover, I think they twist the hair back on the sides and put a flower clip in it. At both places, she had her fingernails painted, makeup and received a little bag with fingernail polish and makeup in it. If you want your daughter's hair down but still want them to be princessy, I would go with Pirates League and bring either a pirate princess costume or a mermaid costume for your girls. My daughter is very girly but found the pirate stuff fun, especially the part where she received her pirate name and took the pirate oath. Next time we go (probably in 2016), I will probably forego BBB and schedule Pirates League and the Pirate cruise for later that same night.

We did BBB princess makeover on the Disney Cruise with the very tight buns, so I see what you are saying. We are doing Pirates League in November, I think they will enjoy that, our girls are about the same age. I think the mermaid experience sounds cool, but our girls are doing it with a friend who is traveling at the same time and Pirates was the pick :goodvibes

Is it a surprise or could you ask them which they prefer?

I'm not sure when you plan to make it back, but this is possibly the last time your oldest will want to do BBB. PL will likely still be something she wants to do as she gets older.

My DD is obsessed with mermaids, where can I find out more about this mermaid experience or the Pirate thing?? I tried to look on the Disney site and don't see anything.

We did BBB when my daughter was four and she loved it. Now that she's seven she is more into Pirates and Mermaids so we booked PL for our MNSSHP night since we were going to MK that day anyway. I made her an Ariel costume to wear for the party so the makeup will be a bonus :goodvibes
