Hi! We are planning our July08 trip & DD5 wants to visit BBB. This is new for us, since our last visit in 2001. I have a few questions for those that have done BBB
Does it really make a difference in the "magic" whether we go to MK or DTD location? I noticed on some posts Princesses in the pictures- is this in the boutique or just in the Castle character meal afterward? Do the Princeses visit the Boutique?? I am assuming that the DTD location does not have Princesses in the Boutique.
I know his sounds silly, but I'm also wondering about wearing a princess dress in the summer heat. I can't imagine DD wearing it in the park after BBB appointment- but I don't want to carry it around all day either!
Since our hotel is in DTD, this location works better for us, probably on night of arrrival...Thanks!!

My girls wore a dress on a VERY hot day in this past July. However, it was a very light one from My Dress Up Trunk (I think). Anyway, they were so sheer, you could see their underwear if they were standing with the sunlight behind them. They wore it all morning and until our 2:30 lunch at CRT. After that, they took them off.

We did the BBB last November in the MK. It was an amazing experience for all of us! We LOVED it! For us, it was magical to be IN Cinderella's castle. I would totally recommend the one in the MK... call exactly 180 days out. It books up really fast.

Also, we brought our own gown.... a sleeveless one....

I have not heard anyone say that the princesses make appearances as of yet as far as location it really doesn't make a difference if you want to get in to mk early one day that location opens at 8am if dtd is more convient they open at 9 am. Prices are the same for both locations as well as options. If you have any other questions the link in my sig is for BBB and there are two or three fairy godmothers in training and well as others who are more than happy to answer your questions.

ETA: we have always had to do this w/ dd but it did help that we have a stroller w/ us to put the stuff in another option we have done is rented a locker and put it in there when she didn't want to wear it anymore.

My dd4 just did BBB @ DTD last week. It was absolutely beautiful and magical. It also did not seem as crowded as the one in MK. I would think you would definitley need some clothes for her to change into. My dd changed after just a few hours and we were there in December! Those dresses are not so comfortable! I also just put the dress in the stroller as I also have an infant.

We made our BBB appointment for the castle b/c we will be eating lunch at CRT after. I probably would have made it for the castle even without lunch though, but just because it is much easier for us to make it to the MK than DTD using Disney Transportation (staying at WL).

I'm sure it will be magical no matter where you go! This will be our first trip to BBB in 4 trips to the world - I'm (Yes, I'm) so excited, the girls don't even know yet.

We did DTD because we thought it would be less crowded (it was! but they had just opened the one @ the MK) We loved it! I gues it just depends if the castle is important to you and your DD. Ours didn't care and we had a blast.Might be a mute point anyway b/c it may depend on where you can get ressies if you are going during a busy time of year.

BTW just asked my DD opinion and she said for her it wouldn't have mattered.

We just returned and did this at MK. Our youngest had a great time, but we thought she looked to made up. She wore a minnie dress, belle, cinderella, and little mermaid during our trip, and she looked the cutest with her hair natural, and comfy sneakers with the dresses. I'm sorry, but she looked like a beauty pagent contestant when we left and she hated the sticky hair after an hour. Just my opinion. Have a great trip. Janice

We did this at the MK location during our trip for our newly-turned 3 yr old dd. She loved being in the castle & I was so surprised and pleased with her reaction! She was so happy..
We asked for them to 'tone' down the hair and everything, so it wasn't super poofy or anything, it was just right.
Anyway, we would def. recommend!

We did BBB at MK in Dec.

The Appointment lasted 40 minutes -- son went first for a "Cool Dude", then DD went for about 25 minutes -- We brought our own costume.

It was crowded, but we only waited about 5 minutes -- We arrivied early & they took us earlied then scheduled.

I preferred the MK location because:

1. Easy to get to using Disney Transportation.
2. We ate at CRT for Lunch afterward
3. DH & older DS easily occupied while we had our appointment.

I thought the Fairy Godmothers in Training all spent a good 20-25 minutes with their clients & nothing seemed rushed.

We brought our own costume which DD wore until 10 pm that night.

I HIGHLY recommend your own Dress or costume if you do not want to carry a change of clothes. My daughter brought her "comfiest" cosutme which she wears often at home. If you were to go in the summer I would recommend a party dress (Easter Dress, etc) that may be cooler then a princess gown.

It was a GREAT experience & I would definitely budget for it again!

We may be going to Universal in 2008 & I am already budgeting an appointment at Downtown loacation!

What about the photo shoot? When we did BBB at DTD the previous 2 times, they had a separate building for a "photo shoot." Would like to try the castle on the next trip to occupy the older kids.

Does BBB at MK have this photo shoot opportunity?

yep they have the photo place set up at the emporium(SP???) at the front of the park on the right had side as you enter the gates. we will be taking my 3 and 5 year olds to the MK BBB in March and we took dd last year she was 4 at the time and it was very loud at the DTD location IMO so hopefully the castel will be less noisey. well see.

Also the advatange to the MK location is they open from 8-7 and most times the park doesn't open till 9 so we'll be in the park before opening for our appointment i hope to get some picks of the the kids w/o other in the pic while we are walking to the castle..

Thanks everone for your input...If I can get breakfast or lunch in CRT that week,I'll book it in MK-although may not be possible since we're staying offsite & only have the 180 ADR. Otherwise, we'll do DTD location!

We did BBB on a whim during our trip. I called the day before to check on cancellations, and they had 1 appt. in the castle in the morning, and one at DTD in the afternoon, so I took one for each girl.

I definitely preferred the castle. The seating was much better for the parent waiting, and it didn't seem as chaotic. At DTD, there was not enough seating for each "princess" to have a parent waiting, so I had to stand and I felt like I was always in the way. There's also a lot more people trying to stick their heads in and see what's going on since it's in the middle of a store. Just don't try to take a large family group in to wait for your princess. Plan on one parent waiting, and the rest of the family doing something else til you're done. I think that was the problem at the DTD location, I didn't have a seat because other people brought too many observers in and were taking up all the spots! If you're traveling alone with other children, it would be fine to have them wait with you, but it's just not a family event.

After the second makeover, we went back to MK (had to for MVMCP anyway) and had the pics done at the emporium. We had prepurchased the photo CD, so it was all free, and they took several poses. We only did the hair/make-up/nails package, but they told us we could go get pics done anyway. Both girls got the Disney Diva style. DD8 wore a HSM cheerleader costume, and DD11 wore a Tink sweatshirt and Tink jeans that we made with fabric transfers. The hairstyles held up through the night, and I just had to re-spray a little the next morning and they left them in for a second day.

sskem96 i couldn't agree more with what you said about the DTD location, we had my dd4 at the time getting done, me and dh and dd and ds, it was crazy standing room only, dh took pics, i had to keep dd2 in my arms the whole time, ds just wanted to sit down... this year we are going the MK location both girls gettind done at the same time so one parent w/ each kid and poor ds has to go along again! LOL
