BFMV at House of Blues Sept 4th..anyone else hitting that?

I am torn I really want to start my 10 day WDW vacation off on the right foot by going to the Bleeding Through, Black Tide, and Bullet for My Valentine show on September 4th at HOB. Having said that I don't particularly enjoy Bullet that much as they were awful when I saw them open for Iron maiden last year on the Matter of Life and Death tour. But still they are a decent band on so they may be worth checking out again, especially since when i saw them last time they did not play "Scream Aim Fire" ( which is an amazing song). Bullet for My Valentine really aren't my style as I am in to Heavy Metal but some good solid new hard rock does a body good every once in awhile.

Anyone else thinking about going to that show?

I really enjoy seeing shows at the HOB in DTD, I think it is a great venue especially since you have the option of viewing the show from upstairs. This came in handy when back in the day I saw SLAYER there and anyone who knows SLAYER knows that the pit is no joke, since I had a broken back I quite enjoyed the view looking down. Of course that was nearly 10 years ago and now that I am a little older I can't hang in the pit like I used to so that nice vantage point will come in handy this time around as well. Hilarious side note reagrding that Slayer show.

I'm not particulary fond of BFMV, as they just remind me of any other scemo, emo-core band out there. Thier new stuff does look to be heading in a better direction though. It seems like they are riding the wave from Avenged Sevefold and Atreyu's popularity.

I hated A7X for years, but then City of Evil came out and floored me. They left the majority of the scremo stuff behind and added a strong Maiden, Pantera, and GnR influence. It wasn't exaclty original, but it was great to hear that classic sound regaining popularity.

'Scream Aim Fire' sounds like BFMV is doing the same, adding an 80's metal vibe. I still don't like the vocals though.

Don't know if I'd catch them at the HOB at DTD. Not a big fan of emo kids, and I'd wonder if there would be a ton at the show

This is why I am torn, I'd love to see a show at HOB in DTD again but much like you I don't think I could deal with the type of crowd that is going to be there. The crowd of Emo fans trhere are going to make the Night of Joy crowd look tough. Which btw I would go to if Stryper was playing lol

As far as BFMV goes I think you are dead on with the idea that they are trying to catch the wave of metal ressurgance without being metal. Much like Trivium, there is another band that you coukld close your eyes and think you are listening to Metallica or Testament only 1/3 of the talent.

Having said all this I am still torn lol I want to see a show at HOB DTD the question now is at what price? In other words is it worth selling my metal soul..probably not.

If the price of the tickets isn't too bad, and you don't have any other plans that night, it's still probably worth it. Isn't part of the upstairs for 21+ due to a bar area. If that's the case, you'll probably get a decent vantage point and a fellow metal crowd in that area. I haven't seen many emos over 21.

Thanks for the info!!!! I had no idea that upstairs was 21+ that fact alone increases the likely hood of me going to the show. You're right thankfully there aren't that many Emo kids over the age of 21...can you imagine working with an Emo kid at the office? How depressing would that be? lol.

I'm not 100% on the 21+ upstairs area. I'd check on that if I were you, before you buy tickets. If the upstairs does indeed have a 21+ area, you should be good.

I know the Electric Factory in Philly, and a bunch of other venues I've hit have a 21+ bar area, and that's made a huge difference when attending all ages shows.

You should be ok to get tickets the day of..I highly doubt that the show would sell out but I could be wrong. BFMV to my knowledge are known in the US but not extremely popular. I think you'll be ok the day of the show. I am planning on heading straight there from the airport as I have an early evening flight and if I am lucky I can start my WDW vacation off on the right foot with a metal/hard Rock show \m/ -_- \m/

In my experience having seen only 3 shows there all of which were close to a decade ago in my opinion it is a great venue. I have been to over 100 Metal, Hardcore, Punk and Hard rock shows in my life and seeing Slayer at the HOB in DTD ranks right up there in my top 10. I watched the Slayer show from upstairs as at the time I had a broken back and I found it to be quite enjoyable with a great view and wonderful sound. When I saw Sepultura there I stayed on the floor and believe it or not the florr has great views from the sides so if you want to stay away from the rowdiness the sides are a good option, which isn't always the case at some venues.

As far as cameras I believe that you should be able to use your digital camera as long as you don't use the flash. Hard Rock and Metal shows are pretty laid back and the bands usually don't care if you take their pictures becuase unlike other genres of music they actually value the fans.

Bleeding Through = West Coast Metalcore (with a dash of Swedish metal) - in other words a little bit of hardcore infused with some melodic metal riffs and thrashy solos with the possibility of some death metal like breakdowns.

Black Tide = New American Heavy/Power Metal -- go on youtube and check out the song "Shockwave" and you will see what I mean when I say "New".
