Beyblade help needed

Beyblades are one of the things on DS 7 Christmas list. He played with them at a friend's house and loved them. He asked for the Destroyer Dome, which I bought when Target had it on sale earlier in November. I also bought the mobile Beystadium (on sale at Kohl's in early November also) because i thought it was pretty cool he could take them with him somewhere. So...I am wrapping this morning and both boxes say they come with "tops" and "launchers." Do I need "bottoms?" I know nothing about these, so forgive me if I am using the wrong terminology. DS doesn't have any Beyblades at all, if that helps with your answer. Thank you!

Bayblades are like spinning tops. They have a launcher that gets "threaded" through and when you pull it, the top spins. So you don't need a bottom.

The Beyblade is a spinning Top, so no, you don't need bottoms. I looked up the set you bought and it looks like it comes with two so your son can use one and compete with someone using the other. Eventually he'll probably want to buy some different kinds of Beyblade tops, as they have different properties... for example, some are heavy and knock others down more easily, some are light and spin for a longer time, etc.

We're new to Beyblade too. My twins want them for Christmas this year as well. The BB's are spinning tops so you don't need a "bottom, " the launcher sets them spinning in the stadium and the blade that spins longer is the winner. The set should have all the parts you need.

You might want to let him choose some extras after Christmas. Give him a 'gift certificate' you make.

My son is in college now, but was really into Beyblades in elementary school. He gave (almost?) all his pieces to his 4th grade cousin this summer. He probably had about a dozen different Beyblades of various sizes and shapes.

My DS9 has Beyblades on his list this year. Whe we were at Epcot last week the Japan pavillion had mini Beyblades that he thought were so cool. He spent his money on these. I don't know where you can get them outside of Epcot though.

There are also Beywheelz---they look like wheels.

There are a lot of different types.

You have to put them together, it's fairly easy.

Make sure he only does them in the stadium. they gouged my linoleum in the kitchen, and one Bey was chewed up by the pavement in the garage.

My son has been in to Beyblades for about 2 years now. He has about 20 different Beys and is getting a Wheelz set for Christmas. As for one "must have" we all love the Tempo Trainer Bey. It's a pretty cool one that looks like a clock face on the top of it (the plastic is dark blue)

if you buy extra they can interchange the tops.. there is a little tool that comes with them that will tighten the top on the blade... There are different linds of launchers too. you can buy ones that they can launch from the wrist... Normally toys r us has them on sale for buy one get one 1/2 off most of the time...
