I just had an unsettling experience with TripRes.com. After learning on this board of a great rate at the Dolphin for the week after Christmas, I booked thru TripRes online. Guess what? After supplying them with my cc info and getting an itenerary number, they are telling me that they cannot honor the advertised rate. Their excuse is that they don't actually know if a room is available at that rate until they actually try to book it. The problem I have with that is why do they give you the option to check rate and availability when they have no idea if they can offer anything close to that rate -- on top of that, they take your cc info as is they are booking the room. WOW I am so glad that I didn't cancel my POR ressies!! Any similar experiences out there??

I know that onetravel.com works this way too...had a bad experience with them last year for another hotel stay!
