I am writing this as a victim of the latest crime spree at the Marriott timeshare. On the early morning of April 1 there were 6 villas that were broken into with 4 having items taken. I believe we lost the most. This stop was at the end of our 10 day tour of Europe, different countries, etc. We lost about 10,000$ worth of stuff. A laptop, 5 swiss rolex made watches, souveniers, money, credit cards. We were sleeping upstairs when this occurred. Our friend who is with us, actually heard them and thought maybe it was me beacause i could not sleep. But it wasn't. Marriott has actually been terrible!!!! They have not assisted us at all. We had to call a manager after the police were here, etc. The general manager we were told would meet with us the next day, but we had to call to make an appt. We were not even asked if we wanted to change our room. I have never had this experience, thank goodness, but I expected to be treated a lot better than I was from a major corporation. When we get back to the states on Saturday, a letter to Corporate Marriott is going out real quick. thanks for listening. I can't wait to get out of here. We are off to Nantes to visit my daughter who is studying here.

I'm so sorry to hear this.It must have put a blight of your trip. I often find a letter to head office once you return will get a better response than the frankly cr*p servive you had in France.

Hope you are all feeling safe again:grouphug:

That is horrible news. Thankyou for letting others know. It is a shame the world is like this and you cannot even enjoy your holidays.

:grouphug: for you all. It is a shame that your holiday has been marred by the selfishness of a thief.

 Im also sorry to hear about your incident.

I had a purse stolen from my pocket in DV during our Christmas trip in 2005 but its even worse when they invade your temporary home to steal like that.

Thanks for posting this though as most people 'drop their guard' when on holiday and Disney is no different to any other major city in the world in that pickpocketing is an organised crime.

Perhaps in reading this thread , others will be more alert and enjoy a safe and trouble free holiday :goodvibes

I sincerely hope you get some answers when you get home.

 and lots of them .

I just read this! we are going there this summer. how did they get in? did they have a key, and is there extra security you can put on the doors? Scary!

sorry you had such a bad time. i've stayed at marriott timeshares for some time...and haven't had an issue in the past...

we're going in november! man i've never heard anything like this at a marriott resort.. yes please more details if you can...

I also would be curious to find out how they got in without you hearing them.
Did they break a door or window?

To those going here in the future, I'd just like to point out that the front door has both a deadbolt and a chain lock. The only other entrance is the patio door which also has a lock.

And there is a safe in the master bedroom with plenty of room for passports, money, credit cards, etc.

OMG how awful for you all ... :grouphug: and so sorry on how it ruined your hoilday aswell ... there are some horrible people out there arent there ...

That's awful  .

I hope you get better customer service from head office.

When we went in January there was a note about not leaving the patio doors open in the welcome pack. I wonder if they'd issues back then too.:scared1:

I'nn need to remember to use the safe as much as possible on ou next trip.

thank you everyone for your thoughts. It has been a very rough road from the day of the breakins on April 1. anyone who stays there PLEASE make sure that you get your back doors locked. If you are unable call management and MAKE them come, do not take no they are not able to. That is how the villas got broken into. I know ours was locked, as my husband was following me around making sure everything was locked. I know the deadbolt or latch was diffinitely locked but I guess I did not get the handle lock correctly, I thought I did since it did not turn. then we went to the front door and I could not get the chain lock so I had to have my DH do that one. I guess they came in thru the back door. After this day we rearranged the furniture and put the couch against that door.
Take all of your belongings, including car keys upstairs with you. We have lost everything from our 10 day 5 country tour. The Marriott was actually a joke. They actually told the police that there was no evidence of a break in!! Hello we were robbed, we did not open the door for them. the problem we had was that the Marriott employee, who I believe may be a suspect, was actually doing the translation for us with the police. When we got our friend from the French military to help us, he is the one that told us what the report said. He is helping us and is still communicating with the police for us. Marriott has done nothing except to give us a week anywhere thru their timeshare and their insurance companies name in the states. Can;t wait to write to the CEO, I believe Mr Bill Marriott, and the one who is the head of the timeshare portion of the business. We were so mistreated, I think that is what hurts most.
I will try to write more later. too much to do after being away for 2 1/2 weeks.

I certainly hope you get resolution. I just sent them an e-mail expressing my concern since we are going there this summer.

when you get a chance...can you tell me exactly which doors you put the couches against? I think we will do this from the moment we go...better safe than sorry. sorry about your troubles! who would have figured???:confused3

The doors that we barricaded were the ones that went out to the back patio area. it is believed that those doors are the ones that they are able to get into. Also check your laundry room window, make sure that is locked. It is ashame that this had to happen as that night as I went to sleep I was planning our next trip in 2 years and using the Marriott as our home base. that won't be happening now. we have learned and will try to help others so no one has to experience the fear we all still have at night in our own homes.

That's dreadful to hear. I would say I hope it didn't spoil your holiday but to be honest that kind of thing would take the gloss of just about anything

I am really sorry for your issues with Marriott, thank you for posting it though. I have friends who considered staying there (I showed them a post by you on another thread on it). I am heading to Europe in a week (as are the friends), but I am staying in Paris the whole time (with just a day trip to DLP).
