Beware of water on POTC

Just got back from WDW and want to give anyone going with a camera a heads up. We rode POTC 3x on 3 different days. The first time we sat towards the front of the boat and it was no issue. The second and third time we were in the middle of the boat and just as we were leaving the Barbosa scene a wave of water came over into the boat (a canon shot from the right) and we all got soaked, including my camera! I had it resting on my lap and my hands were on top of it, so it could have been worse. I used the left side of my shirt to dry it as best I could. The third time I was ready for it and had my camera protected. I don't remember ever getting wet on this ride before so it came as a surprise.

I have been getting wet on it for as long as I remember. It is usually at the bottom of the drop, but the cannons get me sometimes as well. I usually wear a hat and use it to cover my camera until I am past that scene.

I do remember getting a splash sometimes at the bottom of the drop, but I don't ever remember my shirt getting soaked to the skin before. It may be the position of being in the middle of the boat though. It really freaked me out that my camera got so wet!

I have covered my camera during the drop but never got wet from a cannon before. Thanks for the heads up I'll have to keep that in mind in 2 weeks

I'm always a bit nervous down the drop and through the ship cannon/fort scene, you never know how high that water is going to go. But in August I was in the perfect spot to get seriously blasted by one of the air cannons that create the popping sound. I was on the right side of the boat and I swear, it felt like someone boxed my right ear - hard. So you all might want to watch for the water splash and the air cannon effect as well. Still, it's a great ride!

We ride it every trip and the last trip was the first time we got drenched!! My DW and DS's weren't happy campers.....
