Beware...Computer virus through IM!!!

I had an IM from someone that I knew today and it said "Look at me" and had a link. I would have never clicked on it except for the fact that she just had a new grandson and I thought it was a picture. Then, my mother called and told me the same thing happened to her (we have some of the same people on IM). All of a sudden, my IM started shooting out IM's to everyone pulled up and sending them a link. We got it worked out, but do NOT open a link on IM tonight...even someone you know.

these kinds of things have been going around for awhile. They have all kind of links like "Check out my pics" or "new pics at the beach" and "can you believe this!".

I usually ask the person what it is before opening up the link. Usually if its a virus they don't know and they'll have no idea that they just sent something.

Just told my son, who told his girlfriend who was on AIM at the time, so hopefully, she told everyone else. Thanks again. Better safe than sorry.

Ok, I was just wondering, sometimes they will go from IM program to IM program, but its kind of hard. the person has to be in trillian or windows for something like that to happen. Usually the program is written for a specific type of IM.

btw, it is a felony to WRITE viruses, you don't even have to send them, if you write them it is a crime.. just a random fact.

colleges see this a lot. my friends always had them on their pc's. they would mostly be in their away messages or sometimes in their profiles as well. just watch out for those too.
