Our nearly 3 yo's sandal got caught and pulled off as she exited the ride Friday night. It was the end of the evening and the ride was closing, so the CM's had us wait outside on a bench while they looked for her sandal. 30 minutes later, no one had reported anything to us. Dh stuck his head inside the now closed exit door. No one was about. After 40 minutes, a kind member of the "street cleaning" crew tried to find someone for un. No luck. I kept thinking: Is this really Disney??? Since the park was nearly empty and we knew buses wouldn't be running much longer, we headed out, stopping off at Lost and Found in City Hall. Of course, there was no word of the missing shoe. The CM in L&F did give us a card with the number to call in the morning. I called in the morning and was put on hold for quite a while. Again, no news on the shoe. The CM on the phone did take a description of the shoe and our home address, promising to have it mailed if found. I'm not holding my breath. It's so frustrating to know where the shoe was lost and not be able to retrieve it. Of course, it was a brand new pair of $55 sandals, too.

I'm so sorry to hear........................ that you paid 55 dollars for a pair of childrens sandals!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hopefully they will find it and actually mail it to you.

What did her shoe get hung on? (Just so I know when we go next year, and can watch out and make sure my kids don't get theirs hung)

And I don't think she posted here to be LAUGHED at either!

Kids shoes do cost a lot, I can certainly sympathize with you - sorry others don't. It's really frustrating since you knew where it was lost...good luck getting it back!

I don't understand how these things can get lost for good! My brother lost his glasses on Splash Mountain (ironically, at the very end, he put them back on and then his boat was bumped from behind and they fell off) and they were never returned to him. I can't imagine that they were never found - just that no one bothered to make the effort.

Good luck and let us know if it shows up! At least she didn't get hurt!!

if they got caught on something, i would contact Disney again and say you want them to be replaced. They cant do that and then just say nothing... can they?!

I really hope my post didn't come across as I was laughing or anything. Because I wasn't. I was serious when I said I hope they actually mail it to her. I would hate to know that it just got threw away. And I was serious when I asked what it got hung on so I could be careful. One of my children is very prone to things like this happening and I would like to keep it from happening to him.
If it wasn't meant towards mine, and just the one above mine, ignore this, I was just wanting to make sure the OP knew I was serious and wasn't making fun of the situation. I would hate for anyone to think that of me.

sounds like they might be STride Rite.. they are a great brand of kids shoes! Hope they find them soon!

I think WDWLinda was referring to my comment about the post being laughed at. I WAS NOT making fun of the sandal getting lost!! I was just merely commenting on how expensive the shoe was. I guess I'm just jealous! I certainly would not want my dd's shoe to get lost at WDW even if they were a $5 pair at Payless! I do hope they find it for her b/c it WOULD be a shame to have only 1 sandal, expensive or not!

I hope your shoe gets returned. I actually have a story with a happy ending. A few years ago we went to WDW with our 8 yr old niece. She bought a yellow baseball cap that had the words "Walt Disney World" on the back and said princess with some flowers on the front. She left it on the Backstage tour tram by mistake. As soon as we realized it we went back for it but the tram had moved on and no one knew where the cap had gone. We filed a report with Lost and Found and I called them the next few days we were there but it never got turned in (or at least they couldn't find it at the time). Well we wrote it off as a loss but a few weeks after we returned home we got an envelope in the mail and it was my dn's hat! I was so pleased and honestly because of the fact that it was a WDW souvineer type item I really didn't think we would ever see it again but lo and behold someone must have turned it in. So there is still hope for you. I hope you get an envelope in the mail soon with your missing shoe in it!

stride rite, teva, birkenstocks...all spendy sandals.

I didn't mean to open up an ugly can of worms with my post!! ;) I agree that the price for a 2 yo's shoes is ridiculous; but, when your child has WIDE feet, there aren't many choices. These were white Stride Rite Sandals with very small pink leather flowers on top. Cute and very difficult to obtain in wide sizes. Ugh!!

I was in the "spaceship" ahead of dh and dd. According to dh, dd's foot caught where the front part of the "ship" connects on the lefthand side. Her foot hung just enough that the shoe flipped off. He wasn't able to see exactly where it landed -- in the car or in the track area.

After the incident, a senior CM came rushing in to make sure we were ok. Once he ascertained that no one was hurt, he left the building. No one seemed too concerned after that. Disappointing. I can live without the shoe, but I'm not at all happy about how we were treated.

Hopefully they will turn up and maybe will be mailed to you. I agree that the CMs should have come out to tell you that they haven't found the shoe after they told you that they would look for it. At least you wouldn't have had to sit there and wait for nothing all that time. As for price of shoes, I can totally relate as I just had to buy 2 pairs of sneakers for my boys (4 and 2) today. Sometimes it's not a matter of wanting to spend that much money, but a necessity. My DSs inherited their father's wide feet, and Stride Rite is the only place (at least around here) that carries shoes that fit them. I just count myself lucky since I have boys, because I can't imagine how much I would have to pay if they were girls and needed different kinds of shoes to match their outfits.

In the Muppet 3D theater. I realized it within 15 minutes and we went right back. We had to wait until that show was over & then they stopped everything for us and turned the lights on while we crawled around on our hands and knees searching. No sign. The CM said that TONS of stuff gets lost constantly and they all do have a nonchalant attitude because every show and ride someone loses something. They tried, and gave us a phone # too. It was never found. A friend who works there says that once or twice a year they auction off all the unclaimed items at a closed auction.

On an upswing, we did get a pillow sent home to us from a resort. I left it, called, they found it and sent it! I guess you win some, you lose some.

And Stride Rite wide! Zoicks. My sister's middle boy has that problem and they spend more on his shoes than his entire wardrobe! Plus then he only ever has one pair of shoes which look way gross before he grows out of them! The things we parents have to put up with!

Would they stop the ride to look for eyeglasses? Could tha5t be one of the reasons I see aSpce Mountain all quiet with the lights on while I ride through it on Tomorrowland Transit Authority?

Many times I have had to see rides all blurry because I did not have an eyeglass strap and had to put glasses in my pocket.

I might sound like a total jerk here..........but I don't know that it is fair to stop an entire ride for god knows how long to find a single person's glasses/shoes/hat/whatever......most of the rides have signs that say secure all loose articles and we are not responsible blah blah blah. I think that if you lose your glasses because you didn't secure the properly, that's your fault and the hundreds/thousands of people waiting to ride a particular ride shouldn't have to wait while a ride gets stopped to find something that you didn't secure properly....

I am not referring to the OP's DD's shoe....I think that that was an unfortunate incident.....so I guess this post went slightly off track.... :rotfl:

While $55 sounds like a lot of money for kids shoes not all high expense shoes are for fashion. My toddler has a double wide foot and only stride rites carry a size to fit. Its not uncommon for us to spend $30 or more on shoes and you dont get to choose the style at times, you just have to take what they have in the correct size. All my kids have had enormose feet at toddlers and shoes get $$. Of course I could be one of those moms who doesnt shoe their kids and they walk around in all weather barefoot. ughhh!

I just know I would be very upset if one of my kiddies $$ shoes got "lost" and went unrecovered because its not an easy size to replace. Cant go to any ol' shoe store. The OP has my sypathies and I would contact Disney to atleast complain about being left on a bench with empty promises and deserted with no explanation!

Sorry - I should have been more clear. They told him that they drain the ride nightly and would look for the glasses at that time. He never asked them to stop the ride to look for them - and I don't believe that they ever do that!

If you saw Space Mountain all quiet with the lights on, it was probably due to a mechanical problem.

Gee, sorry to rub you the wrong way! I clarified above - my brother never asked (nor expected) them to stop the ride, but was told that Splash Mountain was drained every night, and they would check for the glasses at that time. And I was just posting to share our personal experience with the OP, which is, honestly, most of those lost items never get returned to the guests.

Just wanted to add that my post NEVER suggested that we asked them to stop the ride and look for the glasses. Why be so quick to assume the worst about someone??
