Beware Beware Beware!!!!

This has happened to us a few times just recently. I guess the CMs are so overworked that mistakes are happening more often. On our May 07 trip it helped so much having our ADR number because at least 4 times we could not be found in the computer. Since my friend and I make ADRs together, we never knew if the ADR was her name or mine. But the phone number is the hardest. Seems alot of times the CM at dining will take the number from caller ID, so if you make ADRs from your cell phone or office phone (or even pay phone), those numbers go on your ADR. We have 8 lines in my office and I never know which line I might be using. Having my actual ADR number has saved me numerous times, especially during that trip. So if they can't find you when you checkin, try different phone numbers and that might work. Yes, my last name is spelled wrong at least 50% of the time too and it's not that hard, only 5 letters.

OP, I'm sorry that happened to you, I'm glad they fixed it and also glad you shared the story with us to beware. I guess I need to find my ressie #'s for our trip...just in case....

I've also heard people discussing how they were going to walk up at CP and tell the CM they had reservations to see if they could get in. The people that did it were able to get in, so I assume they had openings and did not create one for them. I was a little surprised since it was 8:05 AM and I thought that would be a popular time. Guess not.

We were there once with reservations under a name that had a few letters in common with my husband's last name - plus a few extra letters. Once we figured it out (fortunately, the first reservation was at an underbooked Marrakesh) we just used that name for the rest of the trip. I joked to the DVC rep last time we called that the Disney Dining computer seems to scramble names, she said (in all serious) "no, that's the Disney Dining CMs, they can't spell over there."
On our last trip a number of our ADR's had the first and last name switched. Sadly this was done by a DVC rep. It would seem neither group is immune to simple mix ups.

I overheard the kids talking while the dad was "checking-in". One of them said, "I wonder if he'll be able to get us in?"

Maybe he wondered if they would be able to get in because the CM had lost their reservation?

I'm sure the situation you're describing DOES happen, but I would hate to jump to some sort of conclusion over some little bit of overheard conversation or with only having a tiny piece of the information. (Although that seems to happen on these boards all the time.)

Don't all of you take your confirmation numbers with you? I would never use my name or phone number without the confirmation number.
Also it always pays to go to concierge or guest services desk and get a printout of your ADRs to take with you.

wow, I cant beleive all the problems we are having! I cant beleive how quickly this thread got so long. (Im the OP). I love Disney, but this scheduling is getting insane. I just cant figure out what is going on over there! This year my husband and I had to stay at all star music bc whoever booked our initial ressie for Pop lost it! I called back to make a payment and the CM had no knowledge of any booking for me at POP. By that time there were no rooms left. I was so upset. Then we booked for All star music and when I called back they couldnt find it again. They had booked it under my old address and phone number, even though I had changed it with them last time. I literally called back immediatly to make sure it was booked ok, and it was booked under my parents address. How in the heck does that happen???? We didnt even talk about thier address!!!!

I wanted to call Disney and explain some of the problems I have been having, but there is no number listed. I called the reservation hotline and they told me there is no number or email address, but they could give me a regular mailing address. Funny, you can call a bunch of numbers to schedule or pay, but you can only make a complaint through snail mail....

I had them print out a list of my ressies as soon as I arrived at the hotel. I had to change one after I got there and they misspelled my name so when I was trying to make sure on somthing the guy at Guest Services couldn't find it..

I will have to agree with the person that says once you make your reservations DON'T call back, this happened to me in April...I made APR for HDDR and before my trip, I called back to make sure that they had it noted that my dd was in a wheelchair, well whenever I went to pick up our tickets, my reservations was no where to be found, even after giving them my res. number still nothing, they still let us in, but our seats couldn't have been worse, my dd couldn't see at all, it was just horrible.:headache: And this is the one show we had planned for over a year, we dreamed about how great it was going to be.

Yikes. I'm hearing a lot of this stuff lately.

I had a strange thing happen when I was checking onto POR on my last trip. When the guy was pulling up my info he could not find me, but another woman with the exact same name who lives near me. I don't know this woman, but I know we go to the same eye doctor, bacause they once pulled her chart instead of mine. Oddly enough she must have been there the same time as me and they had a heck of a time finding my ressie.

I only hope that if I ever need to have a minor proceedure done in a hospital she's not there to have a kidney removed or something.:rotfl2:

Stuff like this makes me glad for my weird, long, ethnic name I can't ever seem to fit on those little signature strips on my drivers license and bank card! :rotfl: It might be a pain to have to spell it to everyone I deal with, but at least I'll never be confused with someone else who happens to share my name!

Last year, I had a CM call me because there is a person with my exact name and my reservations were not lining up with my trip, this was during "free dining" they were worried that I was a week off with my ADR's. Is that scary?? Then I was on a NCL cruise where we make our own reservations to eat. We checked in at the podium, the greeter said, that we were 1 hr early, we were on time. There was a person with my same name again. My name is not that common, I have never met anyone with my exact name!:scared1: Then I referred someone for DVC, I was told that they bought, I never received anything, now I use my husbands name. I figure the other person received the gift. She is on the Orange County site as a DVC owner, now I am scared!:scared1: :sad2:

The funny thing is I never heard of this last name until I met hubby. Come to find out its a common German name. There is another family in town with our name and I keep getting mistaken for his wife.

I felt so sorry for you when I read this. I am so happy that everything turned out. It seems like reservations are like gold and you do not want to lose them. I have been to WDW several times and my sister is now going for her first time in March. I can not stress enough the importance of ADR's.

This is why I am happy I am no longer a Smith :rotfl: Though I married some one with only a slightly less popular name, mixed with my very common first name I am one in 100 in any phone book.

Can I say I am very nervous about this now and I am leaving in a week  I was reading that because I have a dietary requirement that I should call before we arrive, should I try calling the restaurants direct instead or the dining line just in case? I would hate to get there and have nothing to eat just as much as I would hate to get there and have no place to eat.

Well, I overheard more than just a tiny part of the discussion. I was just stating the overall topic of their conversation. It was quite obvious from what they were saying that they did not have an ADR. Ex. kids were talking about how they should have just stayed in the park and ate rather than trying to come here and see how long the lines were for a table. And then they got into how they wondered if the dad would even be able to get them in after they saw how many people were waiting.

Now I do agree, many people do jump to conclusions (probably about just as many as those that think people jump to conclusions)...

There is an email address, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. However, if you email them from the website (bottom of the page, Contact Us), they will get your message. Someone might call you to discuss your issues.

It's a good way to let them know what's going on with their guests. I did request hand soap in the Fort Wilderness bathrooms, I doubt we'll get it, but you never know.
