I was reading on another post about the meal deal which really doesn't sound to bad, I assume the wristband is good for both parks at Universal? Someone mentioned a refillable mug that they had purchased a while back and they were still using it for free refills, do they still sell those type of mugs? And the last question, just how horrible does the fountain soda taste at Universal? Does it compare to Disney? We find that not only is the water nasty in Disney but the fountain pop was really gross so is it the same at Universal? Also does Universal sell bottled soda, Pepsi products? Disney only has Coke and since my husbadn is a Mountain Dew addict he will go through withdrawls if he doesn't has his Dew, thanks for any info. We are keeping our fingers crossed that NWA does not strike so that we can go on our first ever Universal trip coming up in less then two weeks!

The Meal Deal is only good at one park, or you can purchase both parks for an additional fee. As far as I know there is no "free refill mug" at UO, but you can get one with refills that cost about a dollar. The initial mug is about 10 bucks. Coke has a deal with Disney and Universal, so it is the official softdrink of Universal Orlando. The fountain drinks at Universal are fine. Disney is way too busy so the reason for bad tasting fountain drinks is more than likely dirty lines and nozzles. If you want pepsi so bad, take a book bag and stuff it full of sodas. Not only will you get what you want but you will also save money. Universal sells bottles of soda, and just like disney they are overpriced, but not as badly. You can usually find a machine with bottles that sell them for $1.50 where if you buy them from the stores they cost about $2.00 You can not take in coolers, but what we usually do is put the drinks on ice for about 2 hours (the time it takes us to get to the parks) and on a normally warm day they will stay cool for quite some time. If you feel that is too warm, then ask for a cup of ice....generally thats free.

1. it cost more to buy the meal deal/wristband for 2 parks.
see the thread in this forum on the locations it is valid for. it is a good deal. all you can eat. it does not include beverage

2. UO sells coke products. fountain drinks good/no after taste like disney.
you can buy bottled drinks.

3. any mug sold at UO/IOA can be used for refills. they never expire. you pay the refill cost. you can use aaa/ap/us mc for a discount on the refills.
buy the ones with a handle and link it to your belt or strap.
my mug is from 1996 and still valid for refills

4. don't know about mt. dew.

There are two types of refillable mugs. The first are mugs that cost from $5.99-11.99. The refills are $1.25. These mugs are good for future visits.

The other type is one you can only purchase wtih the meal deal. It costs $7 and has unlimited free refills at the meal deal restaurants only and is only good for that day.

Can the refillable mug ($1.25 refills) at both parks? And can it be used in conjunction with the Meal Deal?

if you buy the wrist plan meal deal, it does not come with a beverage.

you have a choice of buying the drink deal of about $7 i think and it is only good for that day. its linked with one of the meal plans at the parks.

what i do is bring my refillable mug to the parks and pay only for the refill.
i use my AAA card to get the 10% discount on the drink........cheap , aren't i..

do the meal plan, buy a mug, use if for refills at a very cheap price. the mug is non expiring. if you have ap or aaa, use it for the drinks.
no discounts on the meal deal plan, can't use aaa or ap for that

yes, good at both parks.

buy the meal deal, use your mug for refills at a cheap cost.

or do as phamton posted just above you

That's what I was hoping to be able to do. We will be going to IOA one day and then UO later in the week. Will the mug I buy at IOA be good at UO?

I am trying to save as much money as I can, in case you haven't noticed! :) I have added some character meals so want to shave costs on other meals.

yes, i have had zero problems with using my dueling dragon/ice mug at both parks.

i suggest you buy a mug with a handle. makes it easier to carry around

What are the differences in the mugs for the $6.00 price range difference?

i saw what phamton posted on the cost of the mugs. whatever she says, she would know.

i can't recall mugs for $6. mine has a handle and i believe it cost more than that some years back.

the sponge bob mug is a cutie but no handle and a problem carrying it around with you. it is boxy in shape.

i loop the handle of my mug around the belly bag or sometimes use the water bottle strap so my hands are kept free.

my mug has the top that screws on and the plastic straw with tip cover on it.

maybe the cheaper mugs don't have handles or straw with it???

listen to phamton, she would know more about it than i would.

this is the best way to clear up the confusion. digital cameras are the greatest.
the spongebob on the left is an example of the most expensive. the one on the right is the least expensive.
