Better to transfer or cancel and rebook

what should i consider? we are looking at moving a cruise one week forward as it would save us about 20%. is it better to just transfer the cruise or should i cancel and rebook? is there any advantage to either way of doing this? the current cruise might have been booked with a placeholder (have to check as i had multiple cruises going for a while) but definitely was not booked onboard

If your current cruise has a placeholder, you have to transfer the cruise to keep the OBB benefits. If you cancel, you get a new reservation number and lose the OBB.
