My family and I are getting ready for a trip to Disney World on May 11th and all of the planning and looking through the pictures from our last trip got me thinking about a couple of incidents that really made Disney and it's CMs stand out so I wanted to share.

This is my first post here but I have been a lurker for quite some time and find that I can get lost in all of the fantastic information this site has to offer.

My first experience worth mentioning occurred on my honeymoon back in 1998. My wife and I were staying at the Wilderness Lodge on this trip. Little did I know that I had had a root canal that had been leaking and a small infection had formed. Well the change in pressure from our flight had caused the infection to expand and become quite large.

At first I just felt a little discomfort but after a couple of days, the pain when I bit down was getting pretty bad. I didn't mention anything to my wife at first since it was our honeymoon but on the morning of our 4th day we were having breakfast in the Magic Kingdom and when I bit down it was like being hit in the face with a bat, I literally saw stars.

I was directed to the first aid station in MK. When I explained my situation I was told that Disney had a dentist on call who had his office in Celebrations. I was then informed that the Wilderness Lodge was sending us a van to take us to the dentist's office. REALLY?!

Yep, a few minutes later a CM from the Wilderness lodge pulled up and drove us to celebrations. When we arrived, there was the dentist fresh off of the golf course, just unlocking the door to his office. The dentist filed the teeth down just a little so that the bad tooth and the one above it would not make contact. He then gave me prescriptions for pain medication and penicillin.

Then came the part that I was dreading.... What was the bill going to be? Would we have to cut our trip short? Would we have to mortgage the house? Well when it was all said and done the bill came out to..... $80 Needless to say it brought an even bigger smile to my face as well as that of my wife.

WAIT, it doesn't end there. The CM that had driven us was waiting for us to drive us to the pharmacy and then back to the Wilderness Lodge. I even managed to talk the dentist and the CM to pose with me for a quick picture and the dentist gave me the Xray that he took of my tooth. Both have been added to the honeymoon scrap book.

After arriving back to our room when we opened the door we found a fruit basket sitting on the desk with a little card hoping that I was better.... WAY OVER THE TOP SERVICE! We loved it and we will always remember how Disney turned a miserable situation into something fantastic. I just wish I could remember the CMs name and if he still works at the Wilderness Lodge. A BELATED THANK YOU!!

Story #2
Three years ago we took our children to Disney World for the first time they were DD(7 at the time) and DS(4 at the time) and of course we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (see story #1 above :)). We were taking the ferry back from the Magic Kingdom and my children were looking out the windows when my sons favorite baseball hat was blown off into the water. Needless to say he was very upset and began to cry.

I was trying to console my son and tell him that we could get another hat just like it as we approached the WL docks. I was looking out the window back to where his hat had blown off and saw one of the water patrol boats stopped in the water. I then saw the patrol officer reach down into the water and pull my son's hat out of the lake!!! I told my son to look and that his hat was safe.

As the ferry was being tied up at the dock the patrol boat came along side of the ferry and the officer handed my son his hat back to him through the window!! We all thought that it was gone for good but he had seen the hat blow off and heard my son crying. I could not thank him enough for going that extra mile to make my son happy again. I have pictures of this as well and maybe I will get them posted but once again Disney comes through!

I can't wait for the new memories we will be making in a few weeks!!!!

I am very surprised after hearing your both stories. In fact It sounds good to me that you are visiting again Disney and the thing which surprised me is that the incident happen to you in the 1st story. And Sometimes moments can't be forgotten. I am a Disney lover for a long time and I have visited a couple of times in a decade.
