This was from December - overall I was very impressed with the food quality, presentation, variety & taste at every place we ate.

Party of 4, 2 adults, 2 girls 12years old - Platinum Dining Plan

Rating 1 - 10 (10 is the best)

Mama Melrose

Service 7 ( a little slow, waitress disappeared when we needed drink refills)

Overall Food 8+

We started with the breads and dipping sauces, pesto & sundried tomato dips... the bread was very dry and tasteless and the dipping sauces just okay. None of us were impressed.

Appetizers were all good 2 Caesar Salads, Toasted italian bread salad, Oven baked cheese - all delicious and fresh

Dinners 2 x Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti - proclaimed very good
1 x special order (not on menu) - fettucini alfredo, plain - very good
1 x Penne alla vodka - OUTSTANDING, this was my dinner and probably the tastiest thing I ate all week - I'd give that a 10 on it's own, delicious.

Desserts - 1 x Warm chocolate truffle cake (delicious)
0mm3.jpg

1 x Honey/Hazelnut cheesecake (okay, nothing special)
0mm1.jpg

The girls had a dish of ice cream - no complaints

Overall Food - 6.5

Family style cornbread, salad (best part of dinner), Fried Chicken, yucky ribs, soggy corn, beans and strawberry shortcake, also includes wine, beer, sangria, soft drinks. The service was excellent - our server must have been doing it for years, very organized and effcient, friendly and fun.

Forgot to take pics, here is one of the table with bread and salad

Cinderella's Royal Table (Breakfast)

Service - okay 6

Food - Meh. 6

Travelling to Disney with first timers it was important to dine at the castle even with the big crane sticking out from behind it :sad2:

Cinderella was very sweet

Breakfast was okay - a little on the cool side temperture wise and our waitress kept forgetting the coffee refill I asked for, finally I told her to forget it.

I had only ever done breakfast here so lunch was new to me, very good selection of salads, cold pasta, meats, veggies etc... pork loin, rosemary chicken, pasta, potatoes etc... desserts were also really good squares and cakes, etc, we would do this one again for sure.

Forgot to take pics, except for characters

Casey's Corner

A big yuck alround, cold soggy hotdogs, it was like they were not cooked long enough or heated all the way through. The crazy thing is we ate here twice  and it was just as bad the second time.

The condiment bar was not well maintained, they were out of onions (both times) and it was a big mess of ketchup spills and generally unclean.

I only gave them a 5 because I liked the cracker jack, otherwise it would be a 3 :wizard:

never again

Okay, for those of you who may recall my trip report a few years ago involving the chicken puke pie episode from here. PTC poisoned me for days and pretty well ruined the last few days of my trip. I swore I'd never go back.

Time heals all wounds and I found myself here again for lunch, swallowing hard, stomach lurching, eyes tearing up when I saw that chicken puke pie was still on the menu.

I had the stuffed peppers - good. 1 huge pepper, actually, stuffed with grains, rice and ratatouille. My appetizer was shrimp cocktail - also good.

Other food at the table, it's sort of a blur now.. but I know we had onion rings with dipping sauce that were outstanding! My DD had chicken noodle soup and fried herb cheese, both were good. Our guide had the fried chicken and loved it and I cannot remember the other meals. We all had milkshakes and smores for dessert.

Our waiter was so much fun and his service was excellent. So I forgive PTC for what they did to me in 93 and I'd come back again.

Narcoossee's at the GF

Service - 10 excellent

Beautiful restauant, we had a great view of the castle. Much more casual inside then I imagined it would be, not stuffy at all, very relaxing.

2 of us had the surf and turf, the steak and lobster tails were perfect
our guide had the grilled scallops and said they were excellent
kids had pasta dishes from the kids menu

appetizers - I didn't like my crab cakes, they tasted off, that is my only negative. Other apps were clam chowder, calamari, shrimp cocktail - all good

Drinks - I had 2 Nar-garitas  we also had mudslides and milkshakes.

Desserts - mine the YOAMD's cheesecake, heaven on a plate

Overall Food - 8

Service - buffet, but good with drinks/clearing plates - 7

What was I thinking? my ADR was for 7:05am  despite the shock to our systems for being up so early, breakfast was a huge hit.

The restaurant was empty when we started chowing down, everything was fresh and hot, good coffee, I really liked Minnie's breakfast pizza from the kids selections.

Forgot to take pics except for the characters

California Grill

Service - 10, best waiter ever

Food - 10 - really could not have been better

Went here for my birthday on Dec 18, I had it on the reservation but never mentioned anything and everyone kept wishing me a happy birthday :)

Okay, dinner. First of all Ron our waiter brought us complimentary sparkling wine for my BD. We ordered a plain cheese/garlic flat bread for the table to share and it was out of this world.

Appetizers, I had a endive salad with Pomegranate dressing, walnuts and bleu cheese... OMG I was in heaven, it was crazy good.

Louise and her DD had caesar salads and said they were great.

The fireworks went off during our salads and the music was piped in, it was wonderful :goodvibes

Dinners -Louise and I had the oak fired fillet, fork tender and perfect

Megan had plain grilled chicken breast with roasted potatoes, this was a special request met with no problem at all

Noel had a pasta off the kids menu and it was good.

Desserts, Ron surprised us with desserts he picked himself for us

The kids had ice cream.

Then Ron gave me a birthday gift, a cast member frame :cloud9:

Boma - breakfast

Service - buffet but great server for drinks /clearing 9

Overall Food - 8

never had breakfast here before, only dinner so I didn't know what to expect. Loved the tiny scones with butter, yum. THe kids loaded up on pancakes and fresh fruit. The adults went for the eggs and breakfast meats that were hot and plentiful. Good coffee here and a fun, friendly server.

Boma was our last morning and we still had 23 meal credits - I asked our Boma waiter if I could treat a family to breakfast and he said sure! There was a party of 4 that was not on the dining plan who were just finishing their breakfast. Our waiter brought me the check and I paid for it with my credits, it was so much fun to watch him tell them their breakfast was paid for. They were confused and then delighted and came over to thank us. :cloud9:

It was so much fun we went to Mara right afterwards and treated another family.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe

Service 6

Overall Food 7

Maybe it was because our flight was just hours away, but we were all pretty somber when we arrived at WP for lunch

LM7.ht2.jpg

Our waiter here was weird, there is really no other way to describe him, weird and a little unpleasant.

Food was okay, we started with salads and I had the artichoke dip
0dtd2-1.jpg

For our meals we had pizza, grandma puck's spaghetti and Wolf-fredo Fettuccini, everything was okay but our hearts were not in it. We were too stuffed for dessert - we ordered the white chocolate cheesecake and just picked at it.

=======================================

At the Candy Cauldron at Downtown Disney I spotted this hidden mickey on a candy apple :goodvibes

0dtd93.jpg

Well, that's about it - we sure did a lot of eating. Our other meals were at the Concierge lounge at AKL which offers some nice continental breakfast choices and evening appetizers.

Any questions, just ask away :)

Hey Cass! Glad to see you and your dining reviews. :goodvibes

How am I supposed to go to bed now when I'm hungry?

Hey Oy, how's it going? How's Mom?

I forgot Alfredo's so here we go.

L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante

We were still pretty from lunch a Le Cellier, but that wasn't going to stop us!

All 4 of us ordered caesar salad and fettucini alfredo which they brought on a huge platter and mixed right in front of us, then served on to our plates.

Salads were cold and fresh served with a large crostini, the fettucini was delicious we all loved it.

Desserts, there was no way on earth we could eat another bite.

I am sorry this restaurant is leaving, we've been there a couple of times and it was good. The Italian guy with the accordian serenaded us, what fun!

Cass,

Thanks for the great reviews and pics. I really enjoyed your trip report and can't wait for your next one. Are you going to do a pre-trip report?

Kathy

Hi everyone, glad you enjoyed my reviews. I was a little concerned with the quality of food declining due to the dining plans, you know, cutting corners or reducing portions etc... but I'm happy to say it was the same if not better than my other trips years ago when there was no plan.

My next trip to Disney is Disneyland Paris in December, I'm a little nervous about the language barrier but the parks look pretty cool. I'll do a trip dining/trip report on the DLP board.

How did you have so many meal credits left over?

Hi there, we were on the Platinum Plan, which gave us 4 credits per person, per day. We started with 96 credits

It works differently than the regular meal plan, we could eat anywhere for 1 credit, whether it be Victoria & Alberts or Pecos Bills, they are both 1 credit. Also, a snack is 1 credit, also a dinner show like Hoop Dee Doo was 1 credit.

We were staying concierge so we kept going to the lounge for breakfast, and not using the credit anywhere. Then sometimes we were just too full and bloated to eat lunch.

After Boma we still had 23 credits, I used 4 for a family at Boma, 3 for a family at Mara, 4 for lunch at Wolfgang and with the rest I bought Mickey Rice Krispie treats. 1 credit each.

It was way too much food, LOL I would not do Platinum again, or if I did I would not stay concierge where the lounge is very tempting.

CASS! Good to "see" you! Thanks for the awesome reviews. :thumbsup2

Super reviews, thank you! I agree, the last day is always so sad. No matter where I ate, I would feel down. I am glad that you had a nice trip!

Hey Oy, how's it going? How's Mom?

Oh, she's pretty much the same as always, thanks for asking! ;)

If you have some spare time check out our trip report in my signature (Argle-Bargle) I'm in the middle of Day 6 and let me tell you, Grimace has developed quite a following. I'm not sure how it happened...I'm waiting for her to call me some day while I'm at work to tell me that a perfect stranger approached her in the grocery store or casino and said, "Hey Grimace, how ya doin?" :lmao:

Hope you and yours are doing well! I love that frame they gave you at CA Grill - it's gorgeous!

Great reviews! Great pics, especially of the Cali Grill. It was one of our faves too!:thumbsup2
