Better Half-Day Park: DHS or Epcot?

With all the construction, it's pretty easy to half-day it.

This simply is not a true statement. It may be a half day park for some because what it offers does not hold their interest, but the reality is that with all of the shows and characters, it's virtually impossible to do HS in a full day, let alone a half one.

The vast majority of the attractions are still open. The area that is under construction came from attractions that required a large amount of space, but not a large amount of time (Backlot Tour, Lights-Motor-Action, Streets of America, etc.).

Yes, it takes longer to 'do it all' in Epcot. But, that does not make HS a half-day park if you want to do it all.

We have 4 day park hoppers and plan to do 1/2 day in the morning at Epcot to do Soarin and Test Track at rope drop. I scheduled our fast passes at Animal Kingdom for the evening that day. The next day I scheduled our fast passes at Hollywood studios in the early afternoon. (will get there at rope drop for Toy story) then we plan to go to Epcot in the evening and do the World Showcase.
If you want to do all the headliner rides, this is probably the best plan. You'll want to use FPs at AK at least one day, for Flight of Passage. Whether that means doing another park at rope drop and AK in the afternoon w/ FPs like above, or spending a full day at AK is up to you. You could rope drop Epcot and do most of the attractions in Future World in a 1/2 day, then hop to DHS in the evening with FPs booked there. If you're staying onsite you could also take advantage of morning EMH at either Epcot or DHS to have more time/get more done before hopping to your evening park with FPs booked.

For us HS is the half day park now. Even though it holds some of our most favorite rides.

Thanks everyone for the input! I'm leaning toward doing the FPs in AK for the evening and rope dropping...Epcot. The kids will be 10 and 7, so I think they might be bored in Epcot (at least when compared to DHS). The kids have been before, but we haven't. They didn't do AK when they went last year. We have a 3 day pass so trying to figure a way to hit 4 parks in 3 days. MK is a definite 1.

Here's a question that might help, at least allieviate the stress of cramming all this info in before ADRs go live on Sunday morning: How long does it take to go from park to park? If we were in DHS and had ADR in MK, is that adding a bunch of commute time that would be better used in a park? I was trying to figure out my ADRs by what park we would be in in the morning vs at night and staying in that park to eat, but if you can quickly get between parks that might add some flexibility into the scheduling part of it.

TIA

I'd say from AK to an MK restaurant give an hour, minimum. Basically I'd give an hour between any two parks, just in case of transportation issues. They happen. We've had bus accidents, stopped monorails. Anything can and does happen, especially when you're pressed for time.
