Woke up at 6:30 am. Took a shower, then went out to that terrific balcony and read the paper and enjoyed the view for one last time.
Packed up our stuff and called bell services to transfer our bags to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. ($5 tip) Went down to the lounge and ate some breakfast.
We had to wait about 10 minutes for an MGM bus. Got there at 8:50. There was already a HUGE crowd waiting for rope drop. We first rode Tower of Terror, with a 10 minute wait. That is one of my absolute favorite rides at WDW!! I just love it! We then grabbed a fastpass for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Went over to the Great Movie Ride and had about a 10 minute wait. We got the cowgirl side (as usual, never even seen the gangster side!). Enjoyed our ride. Next we went over to Who Wants to be a Millionaire
lay It. Didn't make it into the hot seat, but got on the top ten board once! We really enjoyed it and would be back to see it 3 more times during our trip!
We then got a fastpass to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We used our other fastpasses to go do Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. What a cool ride! The picture of us at the end looked *so* funny! Saverio always manages to make the best faces! At this point we were hungry, so we went over to Backlot Express to grab some food. ($13.36) Yuck. Don't think I'd go back there. After we ate, we went to go use our fastpasses for Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We had to hurry, but we made it there in the nick of time! I love that show, it's so sweet! After Mermaid, we went and did MuppetVision3D. I enjoyed it, but Saverio is getting sick of seeing it every trip. After Muppets, we did Millionaire again, with a 10 minute wait. We had a great host, he was so "gameshow-y", very charming. After this, we decided to leave MGM and go check into Animal Kingdom Lodge.
After about a five minute wait for the bus, we were finally on our way! I was so excited when we first pulled up! It looked so cool.
I just stared at the lobby in awe when we got there. Much more impressive in person. Those internet pictures seriously don't do it justice. We checked in and our room was ready. It was on the Zebra Trail, kind of a long walk from the lobby, but not too bad. A very friendly bellman wheeled our bags to our room and pointed out things to us about the resort. ($4 tip for bellman) We settled into the room, just relaxing for awhile, unpacking, etc. We saw a bunch of Thomson's gazelles right outside our window. It was so neat! Of course, we took a zillion pictures! We didn't have any plans to go back to any parks, so we changed into our swimsuits and went down to the pool. The pool is actually very nice. I know it looks plain, but it's better that way because it never felt crowded, even when many people were in the pool. We had a good time swimming; Saverio especially enjoyed the slide. When we were finished swimming, we went over to the Mara and purchased our refillable mugs and split an order of sugar cane chicken ($26.47).
Went back to the room for some more rest and TV watching. Got ready for dinner and went down to eat at Boma. We had a great meal [again, see restaurant board]. Total cost:$50. I would totally come back, and would recommend it to anyone. We were stuffed afterward, but managed to waddle around the resort, taking pictures and exploring each of the lounges where you could see the animals from. We also went out to Arusha Rock and walked up to the suspension bridge to check out the view from there. Went back to the room, watched the Weakest Link and went to bed by 10:15. Wake up call was for 6 am.
