I would like some suggestions on excellent board games that an entire family can play together (Mom, Dad, 6 year old, and almost 4 year old).

I wanted to bring a cute family game as a small gift for my sister-in-law and her family for hosting a Christmas Eve gettogether. The kids are ages 6 and almost 4 (will be 4 in January), so it has to be a very simple, lighthearted game that even the littlest one can play. :)

They have just learned how to play Monopoly Junior Party Edition and the almost-4-year-old has some trouble with understanding the rules of the game but is slowly catching on. So, something at least that simple would be good. They have a few board games but I'm not totally sure what all they have. They have Mouse Trap, Cooties, and Hungry Hippos, and I think Candyland and Hi-Ho Cherry-O and I'm sure a few other "classics".

At those ages, my kids really liked Yahtzee. We still have the Disney version. Very simple counting and the kids loved to roll the dice.

Chutes and Ladders

Memory

These aren't board games but my boys love the card games Go Fish and Old Maid. They also like to play Trouble (we have the Cars edition).

Headbanz

Guess Who I Am

Both are guessing games that use pictures so no reading is necessary.

We like Zingo and Sorry. My DD loves Sorry, even when she was 4 and she couldn't count as well.

Our favorite family game is Magic Kingdom (duh!)

But besides being fans its actually a great game for young n old!

Its hard to find these days as its becoming a collectors item....

We really like Pictureka. We got it 3 years ago when my youngest was 4 and her brothers were 9, 9, and 11. We all loved it then and still enjoy it now. All you do is flip over a card with an image and you have to find that image in the middle of a very busy picture.

One of our favorites is Disney Sorry. We have been playing it since our kids were about that age-and we just played it tonight!
Headbandz is fun too. There are probably 3 versions of it - we have the first one, and the Disney version.

Our favorite is the Disney version of Apples to Apples. Super fun, easy for kids because of the pictures, and you do not have to be a Disney fan to play or enjoy it.

We all enjoy Apples to Apples. They have a junior version we played when the kids were little.

The Disney version of Headbanz is a ton of fun!! My kids 5 and 10 love to play it and we laugh so hard when we do they also like Dominos and Uno.

My kids LOVE this game! Even my husband likes it!

OP, my kids are the same ages as yours, so thank you for starting this thread.

I can not recommend Zingo enough. I thought the youngest (who was 3) was too young for it, but they LOVE it like crazy, and we can all play it together. They also love playing Trouble and Enchanted Forest.

This year, we got Sorry, Connect 4, Disney Apples to Apples, and Disney Pictionary. Can't wait to play them as a family!
