Best X-Box or Wii games for a 7 yo?

My DS (7) likes to play on the wii and x-box. We are in need to suggestions on some games where he has to think instead of just shooting at things (like Star Wars). Any ideas?

We have a Wii, no Xbox. My 7yo likes Mario games and Lego games. We have a "Jump Start" Wii game also that's educational, he likes it, but it doesn't get as much play.

I second the Lego games. There is some shooting but these games have a lot more than that going on plus they're adorable.

I'd also suggest the Wii games Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, which has a bunch of mini-games that require skill plus strategy, and Big Brain Academy, which works on memorization, math, and other skills while still being VERY fun!

Anything Lego (we have Starwars, Batman, Indiana Jones), Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy (1 or 2), Kirby's Epic Yarn, Mario Party 8.

We have a few shooting games too. One on that theme that is rated T but doesn't have any blood or person to person violence (or bad language that I could see) and that I let the 9 yo play is WWII Aces. The kids are airplane pilots who fly around trying to shoot down the Nazi planes.

we have both the wii the xbox 360 with connect and the ps3

I enjoy the will for playing mario games its not really great to play the games where you physically move but for my younger dd its great

the xbox is great for sports games my husband likes it for its graphics

the connect for the xbox is so cool you can play dance games sports games and actually move and if you buy the xbox bundle with connect its a great price

the ps3 is ok i don't really know too much about it.

I Spy Spooky Mansion for the Wii is a pretty good one. Our whole family enjoyed that one.

My 6 year old son loves WipeOut - he just laughs and laughs while playing it. He also likes Mario Kart and it is great for working on the reflexes - he is a better driver in Mario Kart than I am.

We just got Skylanders yesterday--the day it came out. My DS8 counted the days until it came out. He absolutely LOVES it! The starter set it 70.00--but it comes with the game, portal and 3 figures. Can't go wrong with this one!

Another vote for the Lego games. If you don't want one with shooting, Harry Potter is good, the characters just cast spells. The Lego games do require thinking, they're kind of like a giant puzzle where you have to figure out how to complete a level, find hidden objects, figure out how things go together, etc. The games do require some logical thought and reasoning.

If you're looking for games that are more traditionally educational, I hope you have more luck than I did getting your kids to play them. I gave up and settled for "fun" games for the Wii and educational games for their Leapster Explorers.

My boys just recently got Just Dance Kids for Wii. They love it! It gets them up and moving. I love watching them and cracking up. We had friends over for pizza last week and to see 5 little boys from 5-9 years old (trying to) dance to the Kung Fu Fighting song - I was crying, I was laughing so hard.

My guys also love Wii sports resort.

we love the just dance ones for wii, any racing games and then the Lego ones as well. When you shoot someone or whatever they lego explodes but can be rebuilt.. so not to graphic!

Lego, but I wouldn't recommend the Harry Potter Lego game, of all the Lego games it was the only one that neither of my kids really enjoyed. The youngest would get frustrated by it... from easiest to hardest the Legos are Starwars, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Star Wars Clone Wars, Harry Potter.... That said, if he doesn't like one of those series of movies don't bother getting him that game because knowing the movies makes the games much more enjoyable.

Is this a flying game? Can you tell me more about it? Thanks, Candy ---- Also to the op, we like the Wii party game. It has a lot of mini games and you can also play games within the games like bingo,boardgame, and a spin off game. Sorry I'm not too good explaining, but it is a lot of fun and you can play 1--4 players.
