I've held reservations at both BW Stovall's & the Castle Inn. We are under 30 days now, so I need to make a decision. From what I have read, I love the way the Stovall family conducts business. I'm a small business owner & it seems like Stovall's business philosophy & mine are similar. I also like having free breakfast plus a room with fridge & microwave. Also, I am a Diamond rewards member.

I like the Castle because of the atmosphere, but I don't know much else about it. For our length of stay, Castle is about $250 more than Stovall's.

I'm looking for opinions & experiences. We want good beds, clean facilities, & a pool to enjoy on occasion. Here are my questions:

With the GC cut through, is the walk about the same for both hotels? It looks like Castle might be closer, but I do love the Grand Californian (just can't afford to stay there in the summer!). This is my kids' first trip & my second. We can't wait!

Although I cannot comment on the Castle Inn as have not stayed there I highly recommend Stovalls Inn. We stayed there for 14 nights in April, the rooms were a good size for 3 adults as my husband and adult daughter were with me. We found the beds very comfy. We used the pools every day, there were enough beds and towels and the pools were clean. As for position it is excellent I walk slowly and it took no more than 15 minutes and its a nice walk through the Grand Californian. We were so happy with our stay we have booked a stay for next year already. I really cannot praise it enough, the staff are great, 3rd floor rooms at the front mean you can view the fireworks and the topiary garden provides the finishing touch for a great stay.

We just stayed at Stovalls for the first time. Loved it!!!! Comfy beds, fabulous breakfast and pools, gorgeous walk to the parks. Took us 11 minutes walking brisk from excitement.

I agree with the others. Stovall's is great! Everyone is friendly there. We love walking up Disneyland drive, on the giant sidewalk hidden Mickey, crossing at the Paradise Pier and going through the Grand. It's so much more relaxing than walking down Harbor!! I usually travel with my 3 daughters, and have never felt unsafe walking...even after midnight.

Perfect! We stayed at the Paradise Pier last year and did the GCH and Downtown Disney shortcut walk and loved it! I was planning to do that again from Stovalls, but thought I'd see if there was a different route option I missed :) We have three girls too, but it's just DH and I on this trip! I'm sure we will be having some late night walks back so it's great to hear it's a safe walk too! Thank you!

Thanks everyone! It sounds like my first pick is it! I held Stovall's in December & just started second guessing myself. We are so excited!

I haven't stayed at stovalls, but I have stayed at the castle inn and it's the one place I have stayed at on harbour that I wouldn't go back to. Some places are better than others but the castle inn is just not up to my standards and, since for us the the motel don't need to be much more than a comfy clean place to rest and shower I think that's saying something. It was very very run down and shabby and just not a level of clean that I'm comfortable with. Cleanliness, even in the nooks and crannies, should be expected if you ask me.

It has been about 7 years since we stayed there though so it could have improved and been renovated since I stayed there.

For me I choose it because it was the cheapest and that was all I could afford on that trip. Sometimes that is what it is. But if staying at the castle inn isn't saving you money I'd go elsewhere.

I haven't stayed at Castle Inn either but I have stayed at Stovalls twice this year now. Its a great property. Really good customer service. Clean. Friendly. Great breakfast. I'd stay there over Castle Inn even it it wasn't cheaper. But the fact that Stovalls is cheaper than Castle Inn for your trip would make it an easy decision for me. Stovalls!

When we don't stay on property we stay at Stovall's. Great breakfast (get there early), quiet and clean rooms, comfy beds. Very short, scenic walk, past PPH through GCH into DTD. A few peak times they have been short on parking but usually one opens up within 15-20 minutes.
