Questions for those who have stayed there.....

General thoughts on the hotel? Which type of room were you in?

What was the shuttle like? (How long did it take? Would it be a pain with a toddler/stroller?)

How were the beds? Hard? Soft?

Overall, would you recommend this hotel?

Watching this thread...we are booked there for one night prior to checking in at DLH.

We stayed there in 2013 and were very happy with it overall.

We had a family suite. The main room had 2 queen beds, a desk with chair, fridge, microwave. The 2nd room was connected with French doors, and had bunk beds and a pull out couch, along with a kids size table and chairs. 2 bathrooms. Wood floors, which I really appreciated. They feel cleaner to me. We liked having all the space, too.

Free breakfast, we usually would grab some fruit and muffins to eat as we walked to the park.

I don't remember thinking the beds were either hard or soft, I don't remember them as being uncomfortable though.

Parking is valet, because they will need to double or triple park vehicles during busy times. Our room was ground floor, and we sometimes managed to find parking right outside our room, which we liked.

Pool is small, but served its purpose fine for the kids to get a quick swim in one of our days.

We didn't use the ART shuttle, just walked to the Toy Story lot and took the free shuttle. If the kids were sleeping in the stroller when we left the parks, we would just walk back to the hotel instead of waking them and collapsing the stroller. We didn't think it was too terribly long of a walk, though the first year we visited DLR we stayed at the Residence Inn in Garden Grove and walked from there as well, so that is what we judge walking distance based on.

We were just at DLR in December, staying at Dolphins Cove with my in-laws timeshare, and each time we walked past Raffles to get to Dolphins, I kept thinking I wished we were at Raffles again instead.

We have 4 kids, so Raffles will pretty much be our go-to choice unless we are offered the use of timeshare points again.

A good friend of mine has stayed at Raffles a few times. Their family has 3 kids, so it works out well for them since there are 5 of them in their family and they can have a little extra room. She has commented to me, though, that she doesn't think that Raffles is really a good place to stay if you are the sort of person/family who likes to take a break back at your hotel/motel room...just because the walk is a bit far and taking the ART shuttle for 2 round trips can be a pain. I had asked her about it awhile ago because we were looking at hotel options for an upcoming trip and our family likes to take afternoon breaks. Her recommendation was to stay at somewhere along Harbor Blvd if you want to take a break. In my friend's case, they are the sort of DL folks who leave the room in the morning and don't return until the end of the day, so Raffles works just fine for them. She likes the breakfast options there a lot.

Thanks for the info. We have a 3 year old so definitely planning on going back to the hotel in the afternoon. So maybe we'll just stick with our reservation at the Desert Inn. I am just nervous about possible construction noise. And the uncomfortable beds (I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis last year.)
