We will be staying off property for the first time on our upcoming trip in September and staying at this hotel. Anyone have any info or tips on it? Is it really as close to the parks as their site says? Can you view the fireworks from the hotel? How is breakfast there? The pool?

Our favorite hotel, that is not Disney owned! It really is as close as they say, that is why we stay there. The breakfast is quite decent, better than a continental. They always have some sort of egg item, sausage or bacon, potatoes, all the bread products you would want, fruit, cereal and yogurt. The pool is tiny, and we have never used it. Rooms are nice, and the couch makes out to a bed, which is nice for little kids.

Deleted - got hotels mixed up.

Hope you have a fantastic trip!

We have always been happy there. As close as you can get off site. Breakfast is next door and ok. Pool is not amazing, but has always been plenty fun for the kids we take!

We often stay here. Close and comfortable, and the mini suite size is perfect for the five of us. The breakfast isn't fancy, but it's good enough to give you a decent start to your day. We have never used the pool...it's small, but we have seen other families using it. At the end of the night, when your feet are tired, you will be very thankful you are staying there!

ETA It only takes about five minutes to walk to the gate. You can't get a closer hotel!

Thanks all! Does breakfast get crazy busy? Also getting through security to get into the parks.... How much time should we allow to get through? I like to be at the parks for rope drop! I got our tickets on get away today and it came with one early morning entry which will nice.

We've never had any problems with the breakfast service but we travel during the slower times and get to breakfast early.
Morning entry security gets crazy no matter how busy the park will be during the day. This is mostly because they don't utilize every bag check isle and wont pay a few extra people an hours wage to make things go smoother. I would give it 30 to 45 minutes to be safe.

I went last June. At 7 or 7:30 AM breakfast wasn't busy. Our last day we slept in and went around 9 and it was packed.

Thanks again for the great advice! This is our first time staying at a best Western so I'm not sure if the rewards program would work for us and I will definitely plan on an early arrival to get through security. We tend to be early risers when we're at the park so breakfast shouldn't be a problem plus I plan at least one morning heading towards the Disneyland Hotel and getting Mickey waffles!

We just stayed at BWPPI in Feb. 2016, after a very disappointing stay at DLH on our last trip. BWPPI is SO MUCH CLOSER to the Esplanade. I couldn't believe it--even if you walked from DLH to the monorail (which had 30 minute waits at one point!).

However, you need to do into this with realistic expectations. I went in with low expectations as the price is 1/4 the DLH price so I tried to remind myself we weren't paying for the upscale experience. Keep in mind that BWPPI is a motel, NOT a hotel. It has a nice updated lobby, but exterior walkways, a pool/hot tub that *reeked* badly of chlorine when walking by it (which usually means it's not maintained well), and clean but dark/dingy rooms with really noisy window AC units. Still, the room had a microwave, fridge, and a mini-sofa with coffee table, so it offered more than our DLH room. I also found the beds more tolerable, compared to the horrible lumpy squeaky bed we had at DLH.

Breakfast is better than a typical hotel continental breakfast as it has some hot items as others stated. However, after trying it the first morning, we opted to use the money we saved staying there to buy chocolate croissants and other treats from the La Brea Bakery in DTD for breakfast on subsequent days.

I can't answer the question re: fireworks as we weren't back at our room then.

Final thoughts: if you are ok giving up the little Disney touches (e.g., hidden Mickeys in your room, the light-up headboard), room service, poolside service and the amazing water play area at DLH, Disney music piped in, etc., this is a great value given its unbeatable location. I see a hotel/motel as a place to nap/sleep but I know not everyone does.

One of the things we considered was the fact that we spend hardly any time in the room or at the pool. Breakfast is not make or break for us as our first trip we brought breakfast that we never ate and our second trip we just ate at different places in downtown Disney and that worked out fine for us. The walk to downtown Disney will be a bit farther but I figured during the day we may be able to ride the monorail to go catch a meal or walk around then ride the monorail back into the park and that'll cut down on the walking. We will also miss the early morning entry but I just realized that with the tickets I bought we do get one morning to go into the parks early so now we'll just have to decide which park and which day.

We've stayed there a couple of times. Location is great. Rooms are ok, decent size, nothing fancy. We did not care for the breakfast. Not nearly as good as the typical Best Western. In the two times we've stayed there, we ate breakfast ONE morning. Then quickly decided we'd rather pick up a pastry or real breakfast in the park.

This is our favourite hotel. We've stayed here almost every trip, and headed back in August! The location is awesome and we always found the breakfast good, especially considering it's free. Our last trip there were 6 of us so free breakfast was a great savings. Lots of hot or cold choices. Everyone always left full. It's nothing fancy but we're only there long enough to sleep and eat breakfast so we don't need fancy!! Have a great trip!

The early entry that comes with your ticket is only good at DL and usually the consensus is to use it early in your trip because you are less tired then.

Thanks for the info! Glad I found out now rather than trying to get into DCA early! I guess now it makes sense why the early entry was always busier at DL!
