I am going to DL is October and am debating between these 2 hotels/motels. Obivously PPI is closer, but I've heard great things about the CCI and it has a private shuttle. Any suggestions from anyone? I'd love to hear from people who stayed at either or both.

I've never stayed at PPI, but I love the Candy Cane. Have stayed there several times over the years. The shuttle is great, especially after a long day at the parks. However, the walk isn't bad and you don't have to cross Harbor.

They serve continental style breakfast with danishes, bagels, toast, fruit and cereal, which is very good. There is limited seating, but they provide trays so you can take it back to your room if you wish. The grounds are very clean and the staff is very nice. The rooms aren't huge, but the beds are comfortable. If you get a deluxe room your get a fridge and microwave as well.

From those 2, I would go with CCI for sure. I've stayed at both and found the CCI nicer and the bfast is better. We walked a few times but mostly caught the free shuttle, especially at night.

does anyone know--does the CCI Shuttle have wheelchair/ECV accessibility?

I don't recall their main shuttle having handicapped access. It might be worth a call to ask if they can acccomodate you with another vehicle.

I really liked the CCI, the beds are very comfortable, the selection of fruit, juices, pastries at breakfast is great, the shuttle is a plus, and the walk is not too bad. I've stayed at the BWPPI and thought it was too dark, the beds were lumpy, and the breakfast was a joke.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn last month, and, with the continental breakfast, free parking, and a AAA rate, it was a good value for the money. The motel itself is very comfy, the staff was super friendly and helpful, the room furnishings were a little worn but very clean, and even the standard room had a small refrigerator in it. The breakfast was more than enough to get us going in the morning, and although we only used the shuttle a couple of times, it was nice to have it as an option when we were really tired.

The location is great -- it's a nice, maybe 10 minute walk to the parks. It's also next door to a little market with a 7-11, I think, next to that, and across the street from a Subway, a pizza place, and some other little shops. Just 1/2 a block further is an IHOP, so lots of non-park dining options.

My only "complaint" is that our habit of returning to our room mid-day caused some timing trouble for the housekeeping staff. One day they were fine with just taking our towels and giving us clean ones, but another day the housekeeper didn't understand the "no service" request and did the full room cleaning process with us just sitting and watching :rolleyes1

Have never stayed at BWPPI but love the Candy Cane Inn! Breakfast and shuttle are great!

I called and the shuttle does not have handicapped access. Since I would have an ECV I'll just motor to the entrance . . . . .

I have stayed at the BWPPI, and although it was okay, it was indeed dark and a little depressing. It was clean, and the people working there were nice, and the rooms had plenty of space along with mini-fridges and microwaves, but still........even if you're only using it for sleeping/showering, who wants a dark depressing room when on vacation?

I would pick the CCI.:thumbsup2

Or better yet, the HOJO!:yay:
