Hello

Anybody stayed at the Best Western MovieLand?

I have looked on HolidaysUncovered and it seems it used to be a dive but has gotten better this past year, More helpfull and smarter, cleaner rooms.

Am on the look out for a cheap & cheefull spot on I-Drive near Wet 'n' Wild.

Hi,
We stayed at the Clarion Universal last sept and can't fault it. It was cheap enough, but our room was clean, the restaurant was good (though weren't too impressed with breakfast) and the deli was great - we had many visits for pizza, subs, and fresh fruit boxes! They kept us well informed and looked after during hurricane Frances.

It's located right behind Wet n Wild on Universal Boulevard, next to the car park, handy enough for I Drive, but if you don't want to deal with the traffic, you can nip along Universal Boulevard as it joins I Drive at Pointe Orlando.

I believe it was about to be refurbished soon.

Sorry. can't help with personal experience, but there is another hotel site that might help in your choice:-

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34515-d274618-r3767794-Best_Western_MovieLand_Orlando-Orlando_Florida.html

This link will take you to customer reviews posted on Tripadvisor.com. It's a bit love it or hate it apparently (but then I always find most hotel reviews on there are!).

If you click on the link on the left of that page 'Orlando hotels'(under 'Browse'), it lists vitually all Orlando hotels by the gradings given by peole who have stayed there. Yes, the 4 / 5 star places are near the top, but there are plenty of good value places up there as well.

Good luck in your choice!

We stayed here last year we liked this hotel maid service was every day, rooms were clean towels were changed every day there was shampoo and soap in the bathroom, to be honest we weren't there much it was more of a place to sleep, also a coffee makerin the room. i thought it was in a good spot as we walked to the restaurants and there are some gift shops i also found it to be easy to to get to and from the parks.
We would book this hotel again.

Hi

We stayed there 8 years ago when it was Las Palmas and it was a bit of a dive then, but we went again last September and we couldnt fault the hotel at all. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the staff couldnt do enough for you. It was also nice that they had a bar and outside terrace so we could have a drink and a relax after the hectic days at the park. We would definately stay there again.

Have also stayed at the Movieland (in fact we're back there in November) and agree with the above comments. It used to be so-so, but when Best Western took it over a few years ago, they put a lot of money into it and it's really improved. It's cheap, it's clean, the beds are comfy and it's fairly secure (your room door is only accessible from INSIDE the hotel).

Thanks folks, Thats helped alot!

Last time I went, I stayed at the Best Western Plaza International.
We got lost and ended up at Movie Land and they looked quite similar.

It was quite basic, but generally very nice. The pool was great and the cafe was really nice.

It's also in a great location.

You should really enjoy your holiday there.

We stayed there in 2003 and again in Feb this year. It's more in the style of a hotel than motel, in that all the rooms are entered from inside the building. As the name suggests there's a movie theme to the hotel with lots of movie posters in the corridors. Really handy for WetnWild and Universal. The only thing I found a pain was the volume of traffic going down I-drive at busy times.

I know that feeling! Last time we stayed there, we decided not to use I-Drive at all, but instead use Universal Boulevard or jump straight onto I-4 at the Wet & Wild junction. Even if we were going only as far as say, somewhere on Sand Lake Road, it was still quicker to do it this way!

We are staying there in October so here's hoping it's clean and safe as really that's all that matters.
