Has anyone ever stayed here the night before cruising? I am using DCL transportation so I know that the Hyatt would be ideal but this Best Western is 1/2 the price and offers free continental breakfast!

Any input on this hotel would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joanne

We've stayed there twice. The night before the cruise. We didn't sail Disney, but we did sail out of Port Canaveral both times. It's a great hotel and VERY easy. All you do when your flight lands is to go get your baggage, then go to where the rental car desks are. Right inside one of the doors is this big round thing with phones on it. There is a list of numbers to dial (free) that will get you the front desk of the Best Western. Tell them you reservations and would like a shuttle to their hotel, it's free! When you check in you can do one of two things: You can get a free shuttle back to the airport in the morning and then buy your transfers to the port from the airport, OR the Best Western also will run you to the port in the morning. This, however, is not free. I think it was $35 per person, round trip. Not sure what it was one way, but if you purchase round trip they will pick you up when you get off the ship and bring you back to the airport, not the hotel, if you want. We did it twice and I think it was pretty easy. The first time we did it we took the shuttle back to the airport in the morning to catch our transfers we had pre-purchased through RCCI. The second time we just took their shuttle to the port. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you request it right when you check in. A lot of people who are going on cruises stay there and the shuttles fill up very quickly.

Thanks for the reply!!

How long does it take for the shuttle to pick you up? We are not arriving until 10:15 p.m.

My DH is really pushing for the Hyatt because he thinks that the shuttle will take a long time and that luggage transportation will be a pain. Any thoughts??

Thanks!!

It doesn't take long at all. Both times our flight arrived late at night, this past time we landed at 11:30 pm and we called Best Western around 11:45 ish. They told us they would be there in 20 minutes, but it was more like 10-15 min. The luggage is no problem at all. You are right there by baggage claim anyway so all you do is step outside and wait for the van in the designated spot. Its VERY simple.

jmcross, which B/W are you referring to I believe there are 2 by the airport.
We stayed at the B/W Airport inn and suites for around $50 for our pre cruise night.
I 2nd what ddreamer said we also took shuttle to airport after arriving at MCO late at night. I think we waited for about 20 min for shuttle but that was acceptable to us. They shuttled DH back to MCO in morning and he picked up Budget rental car for 1 way to Port. It all went very smoothly and we will be doing same in 2005. The staff at the hotel was great, clean place continental breakfast was on the better end of what you would expect, worked great for a quick breakfast in the am, I think we were all too excited to really care what we ate that morning.

I too would love to stay at the Hyatt for the convience, we come from the west coast so our travel day is LONG!!!!!!! But I just cant justify $175 vs $50. That extra $100 can buy a lot of drinks or souviners on board.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the added info!! I think I was looking at the same Best Western you are talking about in your post. I am still undecided about whether to just spend the money on the Hyatt or not. I'm much too chicken to risk Priceline or another site like that. Our cruise is not until next February so I'm thinking that I still have some time!

I too am a "chicken":confused3 :scared: when it comes to priceline although I may get "brave" for our sept 05 cruise and try what innkognito does.
I am an O.C.D. planner to the extreme and don't like the unknown. Plus if it went sour your only out $30 bucks i guess.
I have over a year to either screw up my courage or talk myself out of it.......:scared: :scared: :scared:

Good Luck
