Has anyone been to best western lakeside since they changed ownership. It used to be a Laquinta Inn.We stayed there in 2003 and it wasn't to bad since we just slept and showered there. The bus transportation was bad but we'll have a car this time. I remember that they had a resort fee of 8$ and they had a pizza hut and minature golf. Also the room had a small refridgarator in it.
Did I mention that we only payed 25$ a night in 2003l !
Any updates to what the hotel is like now?

Hey!

Someone just posted a similar question just a few days ago (I think it's on page 2).

:-D

Don't forget to check out TripAdvisor for lots more reviews, etc. about the BW Lakeside. Have a great trip!

Is it the one in Downtown? Anyway, here is a link to pics from our room when we stayed there (If it is the one in Downtown).

Oh, and they still have a resort fee but it has went up, I think it was $11. It is basically for wireless internet. You got a good deal at 25 a night, we paid 99.

No its not the same one, its the one on Hwy192 we have stayed there 4 times, great budget hotel/motel, since 2003 they have had a refurb, I think it is completed now. Follow dr_nigel_c link to see my post we pay $45/night incl tax and resort fee here in UK most of the year.

Just picked this up on Hotwire for a 1 night cheapy prior to checking in at All Star Sports for Thanksgiving. Got it for $29 a night then with the taxes/fees it was $39.XX per night. I think we got a good deal. Hopefully it will be clean!

If you are looking for it around my dates 11/22/07 you will see it on Hotwire listed under Orlando (Disney Main Gate-Champions Gate) 2.5 star at $29/night.

We are going at the end of May 2008 and its showing up for 25$ on hotwire.I don't want to book it yet because hopefully we will be able to get a good room only rate at one of the value resorts. As of now Pop is 119 plus tax and having stayed at both there isn't that big of a difference in terms of rooms. You just loose the benefits of staying on property(EMH,ME) but were renting a car and will be going to US/IOA as part of our trip.
Report back if you have a chance and let us know what you thought:)

We saw the same $24 rate on hotwire for early june when we are doing a seaworld (offsite) vacation. Im very tempted to book it. Ive done a LOT of research and read so many reviews for the hotel and nearly all has been positive. What an awesome rate too!

But, of course, I am not ready to book. I have a couple other hotels Im really interested in (we would prefer a suite or timeshare) and Im certain the rates will drop for my prefered properties about 60 days before our vacations.

This is my back up hotel... even at rack rates its really cheap!

Stayed there last year. This is a perfectly nice, old fashioned Florida 'resort-motel' with nice landscaping, pools. Very spread out over many buildings. Go with the Hotwire price, so even if you do get socked with a resort fee, it will still be quite a deal. I see no reason to pay more for an area motel.

Also - the breakfast buffet / diner on site is more than decent. Ask if they will let the kids eat free, even if there is no mention/ sign about it.

Even after you book on Hotwire, you can call the hotel directly and ask for a second floor end room, so that you do not have people on both sides of you and also nobody above you. It's quieter that way.

Just wanted to add a little review. We stayed at the Best Western Lakeside for 1 night prior to checking into All Star Sports for Thanksgiving. We didn't arrive at the hotel until between 6-7pm. It was very easy to locate and just west (maybe a couple of miles?) of the 192 entrance for the Disney resort area. There were a few people ahead of us checking in, and there didn't seem to be any defined line or process for accepting the next group to check-in (which resulted in several people [us included] being skipped/waiting longer than necessary). Check-in was smooth however. We were charged a resort fee in addition to our prepurchase through Hotwire (but I knew this ahead of time, so it was no surprise).

The resort is very spread out, with multiple buildings and a strangly laid out parking lot/roadway area (especially if it is already dark). We were assigned a room in the very back of the resort. The parking lot of the resort also appears to be a parking area for a hotair balloon ride operator or something similar, as there were multiple vans/trailers parked along the rear fencing for this.

Although it was dark when we were approaching our room, we thought the interior grounds between the buildings was nice. There was a kiddie park area nearby and a nice gazebo directly across from our room. When we arrived at the room our keys did not work and since it was quite the trek back to the front desk, I called the resort front desk from my cell. They sent a security guard/maintenance guy to the room with a master type key to get us in. He then set to work on the door lock, and eventually determined it was defective. He ended up bringing us a new door lock thing/keys. This all took about 45 mins-1hr.

The room itself was spacious enough for the quality and price. The beds were adequate and I especially liked the pillows. They were thick and fluffy (I hate thin-no-stuffing-head-might-as-well-be-on-the-mattress pillows). The air conditioner kept the room cool, although the fan ran constantly and it didn't appear to have a way to shut it off (althought it wasn't too noisy). The toilet and tub were in their own room and it was small and dark. The bathroom looked clean with the exception of mildew under the clear plastic knob for the tub. The sink and counter were in the main opening and had a small coffee pot/hairdryer/iron and board as well as a rack for hanging clothing. They had a full length mirror on the bathroom door as well as one in the main section of the room in between the TV cabinet and the drawers (this is a huge plus!!! I hate having to try to see all of you with just the small waist up mirrors). The room was quiet and we didn't hear our neighbors at all.

In all, I would definitely stay here again if I needed a cheap and quick room.
