Hi

Could you tell me which is the best site for flights to Orlando and how far in advance you normally have to book them??

Many thanks

You really have to look around at all the sites continuously as they change all the time. The best site for one day may not be the cheapest the next.

Some popular ones I used:

Netflights
Expedia
Opodo
Kayak

Aside from on the rare occasion, I found it almost always cheaper to book directly with the airline, but don't assume this as a given - your really have to check

It seems the best deals are either as soon as the dates open for the flights (330 days before return date, although this seems to vary from one site to the next and BA offers flights a little sooner)

OR

your other option if you don't mind the suspense :rotfl: is to wait and see if any good sales come out, but you are probably going to have to hold off until 5-6 months before you travel - or even less.

I have just done my first DIY flights on Friday. I've booked loads of flights before but not for Orlando specifically. There are plenty wise gurus on this board though and they are sure to be along soon enough. :)

There are no rules for best time to book, it could be a flydrive or even a flight/hotel package 18 months in advance, flight only when released 11 months out or a last minute deal, no-one knows. Just book when you are happy with price and try not to look again.

Check sites in Lee's post, when you are happy with a price either book or post on here all the details and see if anyone can find cheaper or better.

I was looking around recently for flights to Amsterdam for next Valentines weekend and found Kayak to be the best website. They are a flight comparison site, so they go through all of the major sites and airlines for the best prices.

Been quite a few times Wayne, I love the place for a mini-break :thumbsup2

We were supposed to go for our birthdays this year but then the volcano hit right on the day we were leaving :headache: I had a look around and managed to get a really good deal at the Eden Hotel on the Amstel, only £60 per room per night minus 9% cashback with hotels.com. Including flights from Edinburgh, this 3 night break cost us less than £300 :woohoo:

I think the hotel is mentioned on your link, from his first break there in '05?

Yes stayed there in 2005, we took some friends over with us to celebrate Karens 40th. It was the Best Western Eden back then with breakfast included. Nothing special but adequate for a few nights away. Its not far from a student bar where we have spent a lot of evenings over the years, near the University(Cheaper drinks for students:rotfl2:)

'scuse my ignorance Wayne, is Matt your son? Nice holiday list and good way to remember them all lol. I know I could never remember that many trips off-hand :rolleyes1

The location is great close to the Leidseplein and all the major tram routes, and the pics of the rooms I have seen look good. I'm looking forward to a nice, chilled weekend. God knows we could do with it with the year we have had :thumbsup2

Lol, yes he is my spoilt Son. Now 16 & 6'2". I just counted up 55 trips abroad, 56 & 57 next year. How much money is there in that lot:scared1:
I lost track of all our trips before he came along so thought it would be good to keep a list, he started doing his own website but as you see he has not updated it for about 3 years, I keep the holiday page updated.

Links on there to his cat & our family.

Netflights and Expedia have worked for me in the past. They seemed to have the cheapest prices at the time I was looking. Even though I booked late the prices were still very reasonable. Hope this helps.
