Best way to wait-list?

I'm very new to this and have been reading up on how to improve my chances.

We currently have SSR standard studio booked Nov 25-29..
However, we'd much prefer Nov 28- Dec 2. But the 30th & 1st are not available.

Should I put in a wait list for Nov 28-dec 2?
Should I modify down my exist reservation to Nov 28 & 29. And wait-list a stay from Nov 30-Dec 2?
Or should I wait-list the two nights separately and hope that by looking for two separate nights, it increases my chances?

2 nights separately. Much more likely to get them. Plus keep checking on you own, too.
