My DH and I will be making our virgin trip to DL the last week of October. We come in on Sunday late AM from the east coast. It's sounding like that this Sunday is the only day that Fantasmic will be running. Should we bother paying for the Fantasmic package to get good seating? Or is there some trick to get good seats without waiting more than an hour? I have no clue what the seating situation is for DL's Fantasmic as we've only been to WDW. I know we'll be exhausted that first nite, but I'm hoping to get a nap in at our hotel before we head into the park the first day.

Here's a picture of the dessert box. It's from the Electrical parade, but it's the same for Fantasmic. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1777106

Here's a thread discussing what's involved, and people's opinions on whether it was worth it. We did the 9 p.m. show during Spring Break, and we absolutely loved it and thought it was well worth it. However, it was our very first trip to Disneyland! Don't know if I'd do it on a regular basis.

Hope that helps!

Watch the 10:30 show, ALWAYS, the 9 pm show is always crazy knarly packed. At about 10:20 head towards the Haunted Mansion, there is a nice upper level seating (kinda behind the frozen lemonade wagon) that always has spots available with no waiting. The trick is to head as far towards Critter country as you can (don't go past the french fry stand), the crowds thin out towards there.

viewing spot on top of the bridge over POTC entrance has always been my personal fav. check it out!

Does anyone know about how long the show at 1030pm lasts? I was wondering if the park is open until 12m if you would still have time to ride any more rides after the show?

The show is right around 18 minutes. Our family likes to hit two or three rides right after F! Normally we do Splash, HM and BTMRR.

The BEST time to hit Fantasyland rides is after the 2nd Fantasmic, you can do most of them in that last hour the park is open. Just make sure you get in Peter Pan line last, right before midnight and you are all good.

Definitely, definitely, definitely go to the later showing at 10:30. We got to ROA around 10pm thinking that we would get ok seats, but we got GREAT seats!!! We sat right next to the water's edge, for at least 15-20 minutes before anyone sat within 10-15 feet of us. Around 10:20 or so, it did get a little more crowded, but still very manageable to get decent seats at that time. If someone can dig up the tips for DangerMouse's trifecta, you could even catch the fireworks and/or the DEP first. If you do decide to do fireworks, definitely get a good spot in front of the entrance to Frontierland. You'll have to fight the crowds leaving the first F! show to get back into Frontierland once the fireworks are over, but keep going like the PP said, almost to the Haunted Mansion. There's practically no one down there during this time!

Have fun!
