Best way to use a lotta points in a very short time???

If someone has only a couple of months to use or lose a couple of hundred points, what would be some options for utilizing all the points?

Renting is not an option-i'd like to use these.

I know that availability is a big problem this time of year, but my fam's favorite resorts are BLT, AKV, BCV, BWV. Do anyone think a 2 bdrm can be booked in one of these 4 resorts for a 4 day weekend in this short time?

I've scoured the Availability thread but many have warned me that they are not totally accurate with reports...

Are in still within the time period to transfer these points into reservation points?

If you're w/in the 4 month rule (can't remember the name of the rule), then you're out of luck. Good luck

I think I would not worry about being at a favorite resort at this point. Rather than lose the points I would take any rsort that was available and then WL for two of the ones that are on your favorite list if the points will work out for that. For example if OKW or SSR available book there and WL for AKV and BLT. You would probably need more points for the ones on the WL so you would need to figure out if you will have enough or if you would have to end up borrowing some. We can all speculate on your chances of getting one of those favorites now but only MS can tell you for certain. Good luck and hope you are able to turn those points into a great trip.

Can you explain the 4 months thing? Are you saying I can't book a Disney cruise in the last four months of my use year? Help! I don't understand that rule.

You can’t book AND travel in the last 4 months of your UY (for trades outside of the DVC resorts).

DVC is able to trade your pts out of the DVC system for a cruise or stay at the GF because they are able to take your pts, make a reservation and rent that reservation to get cash to pay the cruise or hotel division. If you wait till the last minute, they would be stuck with those pts that would be difficult to rent and turn into cash.

You can still book a cruise 6 months out for a trip that occurs in the last 4 months of your UY.

Once my banking deadline occurs and I haven't banked, I have no choice but to use my points at one of the DVC resorts or lose them. Does that sound correct?

yep - that's how i understand it.

not sure if RCI trades are the same situation but i don't know as much about that area.

What about a cruise or a Grand Villa?????
We had points to burn and thought if we had NO luck with renting them we would either do a cruise just me and my hubby or rent a grand villa for the weekend.......
Never got to do either, points rented really quick.

For availability I would check OKW or SSR they seem to ALWAYS have someting.

If you are allowed to book, there are alot of Aug, Sept and Oct Bahamas cruises coming up which are expensive to book on points. If you can make it over to Europe, I think there are still cabins open on the Med sailings. That should allow you to use up hundreds of points...have fun!

You can deposit with RCI but if under 45 days it'll be very restricted. I'd call and ask for the one time double secret banking exception for this situation.

I do like the idea of taking a cruise or booking a Concierege Collection hotel but these points will expire in 3 months if not used so won't that eliminate these options due to the 4 month rule?
