Thanks for the response. What about a return trip, say to WL? Is there a direct bus FROM TyL to WL?No direct buses. TL buses all transfer at DS. I would take an Uber, cab or Minnie Van.
So no matter WHAT resort you stay in, you must take at least TWO buses to reach TyL, Why is that? Is Typhoon Lagoon within 200-300 feet of any resort so that someone could catch a ride there and walk? No. Same route in reverse . TL to DS, DS to WL.
Why? Because Disney does not think the amount of traffic to TL is worth the cost of running buses from the resorts. Buses from resorts to DS, which at that time was DTD, formerly stopped at TL, but there were too many complaints from DTD-bound travelers. So no matter WHAT resort you stay in, you must take at least TWO buses to reach TyL, Why is that? It drives me crazy! We stay at BWVs. The bus literally passes the entrance to TL, to enter DS! Then it drops you off at the extreme opposite end of where the connecting bus stop is located. Did it one time. Cab and Uber ever since.

If we are at BC and have a rental car, is it easy to park at TL in the mornings? I will not be doing 2 buses with 6 people, so it is either take our rental car or a Minnie Van. We have never done a rental car so I have no idea how painful or not it is to drive to the water parks. Thanks!!

It is super-simple to park, for free, at the water parks. Plenty of spots, no issues. Not a pain at all. No problems at all.
The issue for visiting the water parks is for people without cars staying at Disney resorts. They have to transfer at Disney Springs, which can mean a long journey especially if a weather event shuts down the park and everyone leaves at once. Or you a just unlucky with catching the bus.
