Best way to start collecting pins?

Hello! We are going to WDW in August :yay: and I want to get my 5yo daughter started on collecting pins, but I'm not sure of the best way to do it. I was there in May and bought her a lanyard starter set thing, but it only has 4 pins and that doesn't seem like enough.

Is there somewhere I should buy some before we leave? Any creative ideas on ways to surprise her with more while we're there?

Thanks so much!

I bought a lot of mixed lots on eBay. I averaged about $2/pin. "Tinkerbelle" left her a couple each night for trading the next day.

I buy bulk pins at mousepins.com. I usually buy lots of 25. I've never had a problem with their traders.

Your mileage may vary. :)

Each day of our trip, every person in our family is allowed to pick out one special "keeper" pin. It becomes something of an adventure to itself to find that perfect pin for the day.

Additionally, we buy a starter set each day (the ones with seven pins in them.... sometimes we buy two) and divide it amongst the family. These are our trader pins.

However, this year, we will forego the starter sets and buy a couple of pin lots off of mousepinsonline. We'll ration them, giving each person 2-3 traders per day. However, we'll keep the "pick out one pin to keep" rule.

This way, the collection grows in a nice, organic manner. We bring our pins back each trip, so if the kids interests have changed, they suddenyl have a fresh supply of trader pins. :)
