Hello!
We are planning our first trip to England and we found a charming thatched cottage in the Cotswolds that we are wanting to rent for a week this summer. The problem is that the owner wants me to send a Sterling cheque through the mail to her. I asked my bank and they charge $35 for the cheque and then I would mail it using an insured Express Mail International envelope. This would be another $32. Is there a less expensive way for me to do this?
Thank you!
P.S. I looked at International Money Orders bought at the post office but they don't list England as a country that accepts them.

I would think cheapest way would be send a $US cheque working on current exchange rate, I recieved a $US cheque a few months back, cost me £10(approx $15) for my bank to clear it.
If they won't accept then what about some kind of transfer between your bank and theirs, fees will be payable but should be a lot less than $67.
Good luck.

I was going to suggest paypal too. That would definitely be the cheapest option.

It would be much easier to send them the money through paypal.
Tell them that is the way you would like to send it, paypal will ask you for their e-mail address and away you go, it will also be your receipt of sending them the money. :thumbsup2
