Best way to sell Rescue Heroes

My DS7 is ready to part with his rescue heroes collection. He has a LOT of them (well, some were DS12 when he was younger). Without counting, I'm thinking around 60 people, plus 2 big accessories (command center, aqua boat something), and jeep, airplane, helicopter, and more. So, what do you think is the best way to sell them?

He's kept them very nice and we will be able to match up all the backpacks and little accessories with the guys.We have a garage sale day coming up in our town (early Oct), but I dread the throught of kids playing with them and mixing them all up. We also leave just a few days after the sale for WDW, so I wouldn't have time to ebay anything that doesn't sell. The weather will also be a factor.

I do occasionally sell on ebay and just finished up some auctions. I have almost 190 positive feedbacks (100%). I'm willing to list them on ebay, but shipping will surely to be costly (to the buyer) and the fees, I'm not sure what to do. I also wonder if selling in one big lot or in smaller lots would make the most sense. I'm thinking that maybe splitting them into lots of 10 with a vehicle with each lot might work out well. Having them all with close ending times and of course, offering combined shipping.

I just don't know - what do you all think????

If you have a huge selection, I'd list them on craigslist or in your local paper. I think the cost of shipping (some of those vehicles are heavy) may keep people from going for the bigger lots on ebay. Of course, I'm no expert and haven't looked for those on ebay in a very long time so I could be completely wrong :rotfl:

Craigslist is a pretty good idea. I've never used it, but that's an option to consider. I'll check into that a little more.

I really don't know what to even charge. I guess I should start by seeing EXACTLY what he has. :)

Subscribing as I have a bunch of these to sell as well and would love to hear what others have done.

I sold my son's collection on Craigslist. I asked for and easily recieved $100 and in hindsight definately should have asked for more. His collection was no where near as big as yours sounds. Several people did ask me to break up the lot, but many others were interested in the whole thing and it was easier for me to deal with selling it all at once.

My son had A TON of Rescue Heroes. He had them from age 3 to age 12. I put them in my yard sale for 25 cents for each person and $1 for each vehicle. I wanted them out of my house and wanted some other boy to enjoy them just as much as my son did. He had outgrown the toys, and to me a yard sale isn't suppose to be a big money maker. It's offering someone a good deal. (IMO)

Ask friends who have kids younger than your son. I've sold two lots to two different friends who were DELIGHTED to get them. I didn't sell them for a lot, mostly it was just time to clear the space. DS got a little mad money, I got them out of his room and our friends got some great toys at a great price - everybody's happy!!

Wish you guys lived closer to me, I'd take them in a second. DS4 loves these and the only ones he has are the ones DS7 had when he was little.

I'd put them on Craigslist if you want to make money (some people pay a lot for them because they are good sturdy toys), just yard sale if you just want rid of them.

I tried selling my son's Rescue Heroes at a yard sale 2 years ago - he had a huge collection - lots of figures, lots of vehicles, plus the really big stuff. Nobody bought any. :confused3 Might have been because it was a rainy day.... In the end, I gave them to my neighbor for her grandson (we were moving and wanted to be rid of them).

Now we have 4 large rubbermaid bins full of Imaginext that my son is done with. I was actually thinking maybe Craigslist would be the way to go.

Just make sure if you sell on Craig's List to only take cash and not to take personal checks or money orders. You never know if they'll bounce / be fake.

We have a consignment sale in the spring and fall and there are always tons of rescue hero stuff and people carry it out by the armloads. Is there one in your area that does more than just clothes?

They had the men in Ziploc bags with extra pieces for $3. I don't know if that is high or low?

Wow, I didn't realize they were still popular since they arent' in stores any more. You can barely walk through my twins room due to all of those huge things, I'd love to "thin the herd" a little before Christmas! ;)

I would guess if you just want to get rid of them and not worry about how much you make, a yard/garage sale. Or maybe Craigslist. I've seen a lot of listings lately on Craigslist for like $60-$100.

My boys and I went to a garage sale a couple of months ago and found a huge lot there. My boys are 3 and 6 1/2 and love them. The boy selling them was naming the price of each vehicle and guy and I just asked the mom what she wanted for the whole lot, as my kids were saying they wanted every one anyway. So for $25 I got 30 guys, all their backpack thing's, tons of vehicles, then she had her ds go in and grab the aquatic station and some vhs tapes. I kind of felt bad for taking all that for such a small amount of money but the boy ran in the house yelling how he was rich! He was so excited to have the money and my boys were excited to get those toys. My youngest is into Planet Heroes now too so I guess a few years down the road he'll be wanting to sell those.

I have a big lot of them on craigslist for $40 and I haven't had one person even ask about them. :( I did sell my DDs bike yesterday (like new) for $40 there though.
